Although the weather wasn't the best, we managed to fit in lots of sightseeing and did all that we had wanted to and more. Right from the first day Nicky was on hand to give us useful tips about supermarkets and places to visit/eat as well as lending us her map! Richard was busy going backwards and forwards to the UK to visit his ailing father but somehow still managed to find the time to sit and talk with us around sunset each day and made my dream come true, taking my boys to fish and sitting so patiently with them (Mum and Dad just kept getting their lines tangled up!).
We loved the old monastery carved out of the rock-face and the float down river in canoes at Brantome. Spent hours wandering around the market at St. Mathieu and splashed around happily with FREE canoes at the beautiful lakeside beach of St. Estephe (both recommended by Richard). You definitely need to rent a car to take in the sights but don't have to venture too far from the pool to take in the constant... Plus
