On arrival at our annual girls-only weekend (we stay at different places every year), we were initially quite surprised to find the house was within a relatively modern cul-de-sac, as the photograph on the advertisement made it look as if it was set more privately.
A couple of days before we arrived for our break, I was informed by phone that the 2nd pub in the village had unfortunately closed down (it looked like it had been shut for a very long time, judging by it's appearance) but that the one remaining pub was still open. The only down side to that is it's now an Indian restaurant! Initially we had thought we'd be ok to go for Indian food one night but we just didn't feel like it when we were there. I tried to locate another pub, without success (the two closest ones were fully booked, apart from a table for 2 at 6pm - there were 5 of us, plus dogs, so this was not suitable).
