We decided to get some winter sun and as every single flight to Tenerife was booked we plumped for Ibiza.
Having been to Spain over Christmas and New Year once before we departed with the understanding that almost everything would be shut around Christmas and Boxing Day and so took loads of books and games to play. With my daughter (12) and her friend (13) in tow, all that mattered was their ipads and electronic gizmos but on arrival they were a bit dismayed that there was no wifi and that the TV was in Spanish.
They quickly recovered when they saw the communal pool and also the vast array of beaches all over the place - they were also mollified by the endless supply of chocolate and crisps we bought at the Mercadona and by my cordon bleu cooking (well I did my best). My wife was happy with a ton of Turron and freshly squeeze orange juice.
They made videos of the spectacular weather and of my snoring so they were happy.
