I stayed in Gilwern because I have friends in the village. The cottage has been modernised by somebody with a very good eye, however, there are drawbacks to the property which would mean that I would not hire it again:
The parking nearby is limited to one hour 8am-6pm, Mon-Sat
There is no outdoor space, at all. Therefore, your rubbish has to stay in the kitchen all week (unless you can sneak it into a bin on the street).
There was 4 of most things ie: bowls, plates etc but the majority were chipped.
Despite paying the full price for the cottage (it's for 2, I was a solo traveller) and an extra £18 for my dog, I was only given one set of towels, which I thought was stingey.
It's so, so tiny...I was in my own way. Plus
