We rented three apartments in different cities within the same price range in Italy, this one was the only bad experience we had.
The host was punctual on meeting us at the apartment door. The first thing he mentioned before opening was that the apartment was not clean, the housekeeper would be there in twenty minutes, it was truly full of dust and with a strong smell of humidity, like it hadn't been lived in for a long time.
We proceeded with the paper work and while he gave us the basics we noticed that the stove would not ignite properly. We needed a kitchen lighter which was not working either, so he replaced it with a cigaret lighter to ignite the gas stove. Two of the kitchen cabinets were broken, one (glass) taped with packing tape.
All the furniture and kitchen supplies seemed like second hand stuff, nothing matched, it overshadow the beautiful apartment layout.
