My only complaint is the actual signage to Villa Alema. Had it not been for the kind help of two Sicilian gentlemen on two different occasions from Catania airport , we would have gotten seriously lost! However , after finally arriving at the villa exhausted from concentrating on following the bad signs and from driving on the opposite side of the road from what we are used to, all our troubles melted away. The villa is beautiful and the swimming pool is magnificent! We were an extended family of 14 adults and kids and we were all accommodated very comfortably. Many long hours were spent in the pool which is surrounded by enough manicured lawn for all of us to kick a ball around. Once we had gotten used to the Sicilian roads and crazy driving we discovered that the villa is well placed to explore the eastern part of the island from. The mountain village of Taormina is a must-see as well as Mount Etna which is perfectly visible from the upper sundowners balcony of the villa.
