We recently rented the "Secret Hideaway" on Tambisaan Beach for 12 nights over the Christmas/New Years holidays. What lured us to this property were the words "exclusive" and "private" used in a number of sites to describe the cottage and the beach. The images and description of the rental gave us the false illusion that this hideaway would provide us with a comfortable, peaceful holiday experience.
First off, the private stretch of beach is in fact shared by the villagers of Tambisaan. The beach is used as a lunch port for the many snorkelling excursions that visit crocodile island right out front. On any given day, expect to see boatloads of tourists land on the beach and parade by the cottage on their way to lunch at the property almost next door. The beach is full of debris that gets washed up with the wind and the tide. Not sure how much of that is seasonal and as a result of the recent typhoon.
The locals are very friendly however... Plus
