We stayed in Shekinah in August of 2012. The house is by far the best we have enjoyed in 12 years vacationing at the Outer Banks. The striking thing about the house is the equally superlative views of the Ocean and the Currituck Sound. There are several balcony areas (including an "above it all" crows nest) in which to enjoy your surroundings. The kitchen and formal dining areas are separated from the the main living areas by a wide hallway that has windows on each side and a computer alcove with views of the Sound.
The architecture is similarly unique to the setting in that it features curved steps and railings made from hundreds of strips of wood and bent into the curved shapes required. The decking seems to be made from an exotic wood (Brazilian Ipe?) held by an under deck fastening system. This made for a rich and smooth surface that while weathered, looked fantastic.
Other aspects of the house we enjoyed were the dumbwaiter... Plus
