We were part of a large family group staying in 2 holiday cottages in this Carna. We were so lucky with the weather and spent lazy days on the beach having big picnics and bringing me right back to family holidays when i was young. To say that our kids had a ball is understating it. I'd forgotten how in Ireland you can find empty beaches even in the middle of summer. The water was turquoise and clear and all we had to do was put the younger ones in wet suits and they were happy to go in and out of the water all day.
We mostly catered between the 2 houses we had rented but we ate once in the local hotel and once in Clifden in 'Guys' restaurant. Both were really good and not too expensive. Both catered well for kids.
Almost every evening the men (typical) strolled up to the pub behind Morans shop for a pint of the black stuff. The owner there got to know them and on our last night when I went for a drink there I received a very warm welcome. It was lovely. The reason I am... Plus
