My husband and I took a brief getaway in late October as part of our Chesapeake Bay exploration and we could not have been more pleased with both Cape Charles and the Bauerles' Whispering Pines home. We love the fact that the area still remains non-commercialized and is perfect for a quiet family getaway. The fact that there is actually a public beach adds to the draw of Cape Charles. For those who have boats, there is a very nice public ramp southwest of town that is within minutes of Whispering Pines. Even though we did not utilize the slip that comes with the house, it is well-protected from the sometimes rough waters of the bay. Navigating the creeks along the bay can be tricky as most are shallow, but after checking the creek out with the provided canoe, our 21 foot Sea Ray should have been O.K. with careful navigation and use of a depth finder.
