Silvia was an expert at Versalles food and restaurants. She had done culinary training in France and really understands how flavors work and, therefore, exactly what to order together. We saw upscale new restaurants and an incredible street vendor for the most amazing freshly fried churros I have ever had. I grew up in California and thought I had tasted really unique takes on Mexican food. But Silvia's food tour proved me wrong.
...shrimp tossed in El Pastor spice...grilled...but into a blue corn tortilla and topped with greens tossed in a spicy, creamy sauce...WOW, AND she seemed like she knew everyone in the neighborhood...a real plus. She is perfectly Spanish/English bilingual and one heck of a talented and pleasant person. Ask for Silvia!!!!

FIRST THE POSITIVE
Small group, personal tour. There were 4 persons on the tour.
Each taco stand owner was friendly and had very good tacos
Churro stand was excellent
Good pace, we had plenty of time at each stand.
Taxi ride was comfortable
Tour guide was knowledgeable
CONS; We had reservations for 5:00, however the tour guide showed up at 5:20 and tour began after 5:30
Because no tour guide was at the starting point from 4:50-5:20, we tried using the tour phone numbers noted on confirmation, however the numbers were invalid.
When meeting the tour guide he informed us that all tours start at 5:30 and question our 5:00 tour confirmation. He asked to see our 5:00 confirmation. Which we showed him. Tours with added cost for beer are sold and noted to start at 5:00. The tour guide called a supervisor and had us speak to the supervisor. The supervisor acknowledged that the tour has a booking issue. That’s it no apology or compensation. Standing on a hot street corner for 40 plus minutes was not a pleasant way to start a tour.

We have been to Puerto Vallarta five times over the last six years, and we have done this exact same tour the last two times we visited. And we will likely do it again! It is honestly the BEST! Miel was our tour guide each time. She is incredibly knowledgeable, not only about the places we visit, but the different cultural influences that make up the food we eat, and she knows a lot about Mexican history.
As a final point, you will NOT leave hungry. If anything you need to pace yourself because there is so much deliciousness.
Highly recommend it, and if you can request Miel as your tour guide - do it.

Four friends and I did the evening taco tour last night with Joanna. She was a phenomenal guide and did a great job explaining the history of each restaurant and/or taco truck as well as explaining what kind of tacos we were eating and the traditions that went along with each of the 5 different tacos we ate. The food was fabulous! I loved each and every place we went. We also ate fresh churros for dessert which was marvelous. I highly recommend this tour.

Food was great. Bernardo was our guide and very entertaining. He also shared the histories and different cultures related to the area. We even received a few lessons on the flora. Some of these curbside taco stands have been in the same place, run by generations of family, for over 60 years. Plus we had a fun group of people. Definitely a worthwhile adventure that was well planned before we arrived. Even the included bus ride was an experience in itself.

This was amazing and easily one of our favorite things we did on our trip! Our guide Joanna was super friendly, personable and knowledgeable. We visited 6 taco spots(some restaurants, some food stands) and then a churros spot and an ice cream spot. All were great.
My fiancé and I are not huge seafood people and half of the tacos were seafood but we loved them! So trust the process! Some people on our tour did have dietary restrictions and they were easily able to work around them and find options for everyone!
We had wonderful food but also learned a lot about the culture, which was one of my favorite aspects of the tour!

Our fifth food tour with these wonderful folks and it was five-star every time. Gio as always was terrific and very knowledgeable about the city, the food and the tequila! Top notch all the way.

Our tour guide, Miel, was so fun, knowledgeable, and friendly! Really enjoyed our tour. I learned so many new things. Did you know that chiles have different names when they are dried? Neither did I!
The food spots were delicious!

My daughter and I are gluten free and totally enjoyed the experience. Just notify them in advance...they are very accommodating. The only part we had to skip was the churro tasting at the end, but we were too stuffed full of delicious tacos at that point to eat them anyway.

The walk around El Centro is typically flat, but some of the sidewalks can be a bit difficult for people with mobility issues (due to height of the curb and some uneven sidewalks). If you feel that you can navigate around El Centro unassisted, then you should be okay.

Was it Zapata Bar? The big black and white wall painting of Emiliano Zapata was what I noticed when I first walked in.
I believe I tasted a mezcal (not a tequila) there with the chili powder and I recall it being a slice of something citrus but I don't recall if it was an orange

It depends on the places that is being visited (each day of the week is different as each of the stands/restaurants have different days off), but there were only three places that I was at on my tour that even had the drinks available to buy beer. Of all of the places, Zapata Mexican Bar would be the only place that had liquor, but we were there to taste Mescal (did you know that Tequila is a type of Mescal? I learned this on my tour). However, please note that the visits to each place are pretty short and you would need to drink your beer(s) pretty quickly if you want to keep going to the other spots.
