The absolute best trail ride I have been on! Horses were well cared for, and well trained. The guides paid attention to everyone to help us handle our horses correctly, and make sure we were all doing ok, all while being friendly and entertaining. The views from the backside of the Fairmont through the trees was beautiful, as well as the trail along the golf course and the river. Would definitely recommend.

Women greeting us on arrival was apbrupt and direct. We were told to not bring anything except our phone for pictures. I asked if I could bring water and was told to drinka little before and that I could drink after the ride...I asked if i could have a saddle bag as mentioned on their website and was told our ride was too short...I told her I needed water for medical reasons and she replied that she would look into it. Really, all that for a bottle of water and being spoken to like a child in kindergarden...
On a positve note the horses were beautiful and well cared for. In the end they put a saddle bag with a bottle of water on my horse even if I had brought my own which I had to leave behind , can you imagine if a medical situation happened and I needed water and they had refused..Really glad the women greeting us was not on the ride. The ride was ok but dont think you can take good pictures as they dont stop for that even though they say you can take amazing pictures on their website.The ride was downhill and uphiil on narrow rocky paths for most of it except for the river crossing which took 3 minutes. the young women riding at the end was friendly but the leader was also apbrupt...glad I was at the end.
All in all it is a tourist thing and the staff chi+

On our 1h rides, we do not generally allow water as it is a shorter ride and there are no cup holders. We always accommodate to medical situations once we are informed of them.
We are glad that you enjoyed the actual ride and were able to take in the scenery!

It made my trip more special that my horse was hungry, or just stubborn, it constantly tried to get off track and eat. Although staff was against, I learnt to feed my horse for a min to have a smooth ride for another 5 min. For me connecting with the horse that way was more fun. If you are looking to take pictures or videos on a well behaved horse, I'd suggest to ask staff before trip starts as they assign each horse to each rider using their own judgement, they must know their horses' behavior. When they brought my horse I instantly knew that it is not in good mood, but Ive never asked to change it. They assigned that horse the last.

Hello,
We try to match horses personalities with riders. It is hard to predict how the horse will act on a specific day but we try our best.
We treat our horses very well and they are well fed. We don't like the horses to eat on the trail as the grass does not get properly chewed while the horse has a bit in their mouth. This could potentially cause problems to the horses health in the long run.
We are glad to hear you still enjoyed the ride and were able to take in the beautiful views!

Great experience! Our group consisted of 6 people, age 74 to 9, most of which had never ridden a horse before. The guides were great, the pace was slow, and the scenery was beautiful.

Great experience all the way round. We were a group of 4 with some experience riding horses. The staff were receptive and supportive. The horses were all well mannered and gentle even for our littlest rider. The ride itself was amazing. We have done the Bow river ride before and it was also great but being able to go through the River (twice) on the horses was an entirely different experience. You also pass by the Bow River Falls which is breathtaking. You do need to realize you start at the Banff Springs Hotel stables and not the main stables for this ride (which is clearly stated but worth noting). Overall we highly recommend this and the other rides, great company!

What a great time! We’ve never ridden before and the staff made sure we were comfortable and reassured (including one slightly nervous teen). The ride was well led at a slow pace and the horses were so docile.
Loved the part where we crossed the river!
All in all a great experience with plenty of guidance and I would not hesitate to recommend this

Had a wonderful hours’ ride through the woodland and across the river.
Had a lovely welcome from all staff.
Horses paired appropriately with rider. I was lucky to ride Spider and my husband on Wilson. Both so very well behaved horses.
Would recommend this ride to anyone.

My daughter and I did the Spray River 1-hr ride. There were about 10 other riders in the same trail ride, most had never been on a horse. The staff were excellent in making them feel comfortable, they picked out appropriate horses for each rider, some kids were only 8 yrs old. Natalie was our lead cowgirl with a young cowboy bringing up the rear, they kept the group safely together. Natalie explained the area, told us about the horses, etc. The scenery is beautiful, it is through the town of Banff in some areas but we were so impressed with how calm and bombproof the horses were. The highlight for us was riding through the Spray River.

Our family had the 1 hour Spray Valley trail booked today. When we were about to embark on our ride, my 11 yr old son suddenly panicked and wanted off the horse immediately. My son also has Autism. The guides were SOOO amazing with him!!!! My husband of course had to get off too and stay back with him, while I went on the ride with my daughter. While my son stayed back, another young man that works there (he was from Bowmanville, Ont) decided to teach my son how to “rope” and was so interactive with him!!! Then when I got back from the ride with my daughter- they offered my husband and her another ride, so that way my husband didn’t miss out on the experience either!!! It was truly Incredible how awesome these ladies were with us!!! I am so thankful and we had a truly fantastic experience!! 100% recommend!

My 15 year old daughter and I (near 50) did the 1 hour Spray River ride. You actually get to go through rivers twice. It is amazing to see the Chateau in the backdrop at points. I felt safe but it still feels like an adventurous activity. The woman who lead our group (maybe 8 riders) was great (competent, friendly, attentive, authentic rancher-like appearance and accent and very informative).
The horses are trained to go nose to tai, so if you have expectations of fast trotting or galloping then perhaps another ride is for you, however you do weave in and out between tall pines on narrow paths and climb little hills, and, yes go through the water and so it does still feel adventurous and yet safe. I hadn't been on a horse since I was 19 (and even then it was a nose to tail trail ride in Prince Edward County) and yet I felt safe but it was still thrilling.
My horse's name was Mountain and he was a good boy. I told him so often throughout the ride. He took good care of me. It was great to meet and pet him while getting ready.
The ride felt peaceful and of course the amazing fresh mountain air, babbling brooks and meandering rivers add to this wonderful experience that I highly recommend.
It was well organized and executed. Right on time but didn't feel pushed or rushed nor robotic. Our guide had funny stories along the way as well as history and nature information.
We were too late in the season for the cook-out ride, but those look amazing and great prices. Maybe a cookout if we ever make it back to amazing Banff.
Another bonus to this activity is it is only an hour and so can combine it with a day of other activities in Banff.
