- Roving358513833810 contributionBelle sortie aux chutes YSNous avons passez une journée très agréable en compagnie de notre fort sympatique guide Elliott et notre chauffeur Johnny (Papa). Le tour de bateau pour voir les crocodiles de la Black River était rafraichissant. Les chutes YS sont vraiment très belles et le rhum d’Appleton excellent (le repas aussi). C’est une grande journée par contre. Départ tôt vers 7h30am et retours vers 8pm. Elliott nous a bien divertit tout en sourire et avec beaucoup d’humour.Rédigé le 23 mai 2022

The food tour turned out to be one of the best decisions ever! From the start, Mama Georgia made us feel welcomed, sharing not just incredible Jamaican dishes but also the rich history and traditions behind them, turning the tour into an immersive cultural experience. Her warmth and attention to detail made everything feel personalized and unforgettable. We were so impressed that we booked another excursion with her to the Blue Hole and a water rafting adventure, which was just as amazing. Her professionalism, hospitality, and genuine care made our trip truly special. If you're visiting Jamaica, Finesse Vacations,is the perfect choice for an unforgettable experience!

Das is a very informative and thorough tour guide. Beginning with breakfast, a ton of food was provided to sample. Next we went to a supermarket where he showed what’s from Jamaica versus imported and then he purchased the items to make a bun with cheese. For such a simple thing the taste was wonderful. Along the way he toured me through many areas throughout Montego Bay giving the history and backgrounds for each. Next up from there we went to the market (Farmer’s Market) where locals were selling and buying fresh produce. Here I was able to see several fruits that I don’t see in my part of the USA and I was able to taste a chicken foot soup and sugar cane. While this wasn’t my first time tasting sugar cane, I did learn the proper way to enjoy it raw. I also enjoyed the soup, ignoring that it had a foot. Lol. Last up we enjoyed excellent Jerk chicken and festival.
I would completely recommend this tour for anyone who enjoys trying new foods, learning new cultures, seeing the island beyond the tourist areas and ultimately having a great time without effort and in the comfort of a nice air conditioned transportation with just yourself or your group.
I do recommend going on day other than Sunday, since I went on Sunday and many of his usual stops were closed. However even on Sunday I still didn’t feel lacking and had a great time.
I would completely recommend this tour for anyone who enjoys trying new foods, learning new cultures, seeing the island beyond the tourist areas and ultimately having a great time without effort and in the comfort of a nice air conditioned transportation with just yourself or your group.

We had an awesome time! This tour was exactly what we were looking for. Das, our private guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and showed us the typical (delicious) daily Jamaican cuisine. We sampled so many different delicious foods, and got a gorgeous view of both the city and the suburbs. Although it seems expensive upfront, everything the trip includes makes it more than worth it.

This tour is a MUST do! As a solo traveler, Mama G made me feel so welcome, at-home, and gave me what felt like a personalized tour even though it was our first time meeting. She made my trip! Although it was the rainy season, she still searched the market high and low, ensuring I got to try two fruits I'd never had (noseberry & sweet sop - both delicious) as well as my requested mango. She also went out of her way to ensure I got the purest blue mountain coffee and tried peanut porridge along the way. All the food was delicious, and I feel I got a taste of the real Montego Bay. But above all was the company - excellent. If you're able, I highly recommend this tour! And again, Mama G is the best <3

Das is the be all end all of private Jamaican tour guiding!! He shows all the details within and around Montego Bay. From downtown (he describes each building you pass by owner, history, construction) to Iron Shores (higher income housing) and Bogue (he describes the government housing and how owners can’t and can build on their property around the original government shell). He stops at a popular breakfast spot to show Jamaican popular fare you don’t get at the resorts (meat Pattie’s, peanut porridge, sourspot drink), at an authentic fruit stand where you sample ALL the fruit (sugarcane, starfruit, mango, Jamaican apple, etc.) and at the famous original Scotchie’s for authentic jerk chicken. He’s so thorough he’s better than the Montego Bay Wikipedia article!! And above all, he’s so personable, he’s your best friend by the end of the tour. He’s expanding his business and tours, and we’ll definitely be contacting him for a number of his myriad itineraries in the works and already in existence. Thank you Das!!! - Peter and Katie

I’ve been in Jamaica a few days and this tour was awesome!!! Das is a very knowledgeable host who’s insight made the trip worth every dollar. If you would like to indulge in delicious local Jamaican cuisine, come hungry and book this tour now!

Our tour guide Das was AMAZING! He not only took us to get some great authentic Jamaican food but also gave a history tour. I recommend coming hungry because you will get full! He even got us snacks to take home and we didn’t finish all the food. Everything was so good! Thanks for everything!

There are so many positive ways to describe this experience. But, the best one I can think of is "Authentic"! Das showed us around the city, toured us to some classic spots (Scotchies), and stopped by his personal favorites too! We drank fresh coconut water and ate sugar cane peeled right in front of us by a local street vendor. We felt safe, comfortable, and well-fed. Bring your appetite and a sense of adventure. 10/10 would recommend this tour.

Mama G was absolutely amazing! She took us around Jamaica and different little areas. We stopped and got breakfast which was a peanut porridge and hominy porridge. She then took us to a pattie place and we got cheese and chicken Pattie’s with sour sap juice which both were delicious! We drove around for a while then stopped and got some local fruits and sugar cane. She even got us cow foot from a local food place. We then had some authentic jerk chicken and pork. The sauce that came on the side was spicy but soooo delicious. She also got us ting which is a grapefruit soda. If I could give more stars I would. 1000% recommend.

It was an absoutely great time on our tour with Das. He is very knowledgeable about Jamaica rich food history and culture. We ate several scrumptious foods- curry chicken, curry crab, various fresh fruits, patties porridge, soup. Das was so attentive we mention conch soup and he got us conch soup that was very delicious. It was a very informative tour just bring your appetite you will not leave hungry.
