This was an excellent tour of Basel, and our guide Jonas was fantastic. Lots of interesting history and the cheese and chocolate tastings were delightful, as were the proprietors of the small shops that we visited. I would highly recommend this walking tour as a great way to get an introduction to this beautiful, artistic city and its people.

Jonas gave us an amazing tour!! He was very knowledgeable of the city, friendly, and passionate about guiding and sharing his knowledge with others - especially his knowledge of cheese, chocolate, and pastries! We found some local places we would have never known about if it wasn’t for Jonas and truly enjoyed the entire tour. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience with him!
Our only complaint was with the process from Tours of Switzerland who canceled our original reservation less than 24 hours before and had us scrambling to reschedule. But that of course doesn’t have anything to do with the incredible tour from Jonas!

The tour was very good and Jonas was friendly and knowledgeable. We learned a great deal and tasted some wonderful local specialties. A water stop in the heat would have been welcome. The only negative would be, as a few other reviewers indicated, there are scheduling issues. I received a text message the morning of our tour from Jonas confirming he would meet us at a different time than scheduled. Apparently we had been double booked. Scheduling people indicated they had emailed me but I did not receive it (did an email search through inbox, trash and junk mail) and definitely did not confirm a change to a time we were unable to do. Jonas was able to work things out with the other group being willing to change but that was just luck, we could have just as easily been canceled and left to fight about a refund. So despite it being a good tour and very good guide I probably wouldn’t recommend based on the scheduling issue. I saw this in other reviews and chose to try anyway and it happened to me too.

Don’t book this tour. Did not come close to matching the description of tour advertised nor the itinerary provided with confirmation. Expected to learn a lot more of Old Town Basel and experience more tastings than 2 stops in less than 2 hours. Save your money to enjoy buying your own tastings at several of the many shops and any guide book would be more informative on history of Old Town and food production.

We are sorry to hear that you are advising others not to book this tour; despite it being loved by over 93% of the travelers; reviews will prove this. Upon checking, you tasted a selection of high quality chocolates, cheeses, and pastries, while exploring some of the old town of Basel
You also at the end tipped our guide well, mentioning you enjoyed the tour, therefore, it is strange if you were not happy, why you would give a sign that the tour was well done...
We hope to welcome you again in the future

Jonas did a wonderful job taking us for our chocolate and pastry tour! He was so knowledgeable about let the town as well , we felt like we had a guided tour of the city while eating delicious chocolate and pastry’s all afternoon. He was very personable and really made our trip special - 10 star review !

We explored the city with our guide and discovered not only delicious food, but the history of this eclectic city. We were provided with other recommendations of things to do while here which were invaluable. Basel isn’t as touristy as other stops (Zurich and Interlaken) and we found having a guide invaluable. Highly recommend.

The tour guide never showed .. called to inquire why and the voicemail recording said LONG hold times and to email them instead. We mailed them only to find out they cancelled the tour and never told us. Very disappointed and now we have to figure out how to get the $$ back that we pre-paid for the tour!!! Buyer, beware.

I saw you booked through an OTA (Reseller of our tours) This is the year we've been receiving fraudulent bookings through Viator/TripAdvisor, therefore, ask our clients to respond to ensure we provide the best service and everything goes smoothly :) - The best would always be to book direct so these situations do not happen.

Johan was very nice and most knowledgeable about the history of Basel. He was also helpful in how to take the tram. The pastry shop we went to was amazing - I just wish I could have had a small slice of a couple of things instead of so much of one. Johan was also very well versed in the different cheeses and chocolates. I would recommend this tour.
What I didn’t like was not being able to go at the time I originally booked - 12pm. I was given one option (9:30 am)the day before , which I took but wasn’t an ideal time to do this. I was given an option of a later time that same day, but I had already made other plans. To be fair, I was also given the option to cancel for a refund but I wanted to do it.

I emailed the company prior to my travels, shared my email and cell with the tour guide. Ofcourse the tour guide never showed up or responded to my emails and if you contact their tour office no one answers the phone either. This is a scam

We also tried to contact you on the day via Viator, as the other modes were not working. After 45 minutes, we sent a message asking if you would still like to join. Unfortunately, no response was received, and our guide left. We always recommend, when booking through a reselling platform, to provide a specific address to avoid any issues; in case the address is not properly listed, you can always refer to our website and contact us:

Our tour was fantastic and our guide Lucas was awesome. Taught us so much about cheese & chocolate (who knew!) and showed us some great sights in town. Highly recommend. The company this was through however let us down with their poor communication, they changed the booking time without notifying us, leading to some tense moments (hours) while we tried to resolve. The local Information Centre got involved and were very helpful, and did also make the comment that the communication from the tour organisation had dropped and as a result they weren't recommending them anymore. Book this tour, but I'd recommend you reconfirm prior about the date and time. Lucas and his tour though, were excellent.
