I seldom give Excellent to a tour but this one is worth it!!!
Although the weather was not good, we felt so happy during the whole day.
The monkeys are super cute and the cherry blossoms are gorgeous.
What we did not expect was also the lunch! Everyone had a traditional, beautiful Japanese set with very nice service.
And I need to give my greatest Thanks to our guide - Jens. He is funny and knowledgeable and explained a lot to us. Also, due to the rain, the route to the monkeys was quite bad. Jens kept walking behind my mum and aunt to ensure their safety. How sweet! Thank you so much and hope to join the tour again!

This was an amazing day out from Tokyo. We got the Shinkansen from Omiya, arriving at 9:30, but as advised on their website this was plenty of time to join the tour at 9:35 as there is only one Shinkansen ticket gate at Nagano station and the meeting point is directly opposite. Jens, our tour guide, was very good and explained how the day would go, and then we spent 50 minutes on the bus to the Snow Monkey park.
The monkey park itself was amazing. The walk from where we parked up to the main park did take us half an hour, despite only being 1.6km according to the sign, as it was quite steep and slippy in places, but it was a beautiful walk. We were lucky with the weather as I imagine it wouldn’t be quite as pleasant in the rain, but we had some stunning views in the sunshine. When we got to the park there were monkeys everywhere. Walking across the path, sleeping right next to the path, babies playing. It was a great experience to walk amongst them. Only one got in the hot spring, but quite a few were gathered around it. To be honest, even without the monkeys, it was a lovely park for a walk around.
After this, we had lunch at a nearby hotel/restaurant. I really enjoyed it as it was the first time on my trip I’d been able to have a proper Japanese meal as a vegetarian (it’s not a very veggie friendly country!) and we were served quite a big bento meal. The other two members of my party don’t really like sushi/noodles/Japanese food in general though, but there is another little cafe near the park entrance (Enzo cafe) where you can get drinks and snacks.
The afternoon cherry blossom viewing was next, and they took us to Takeda Castle in Niigata. We were so lucky to be there for full bloom, in the middle of the cherry blossom festival. There were food and drinks stalls, fairground games, and hundreds of people enjoying the 2000+ trees in full bloom. It was beautiful and exactly what we hoped for from this trip.
Unfortunately we had to leave before it got dark so didn’t see it all lit up, but we did have a 1.5 hour journey back to Nagano Station. We got there in plenty of time for our 19:05 Shinkansen back to Tokyo.
We loved this tour experience and would highly recommend it. Well worth the price, even with the Shinkansen from Tokyo cost on top.

Dear Helen,
Your glowing review made our day! It’s a great source of motivation for Jens and the entire team to know that you loved the tour from start to finish. I agree with you, the monkeys are amazing, but the park is so lovely regardless of monkeys! We are also glad we could provide an authentic Japanese lunch that suited your dietary needs. You certainly chose an amazing time to visit Nagano - cherry blossom season! Thank you so much for choosing us, and we look forward to delivering another fantastic tour for you in the future.

If you’re staying in Japan on vacation or you live in the greater Tokyo area and want to visit gorgeous scenery away from the city then you must take this tour. The cherry blossoms are blooming all over Japan this time of the year but seeing them in the countryside was such an intimate experience.
We took the shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano and had the pleasure of being led by our tour guide, Endo-san. He’s a Nagano local fluent in English. He taught us some history on the culture and landmarks throughout our whole ride to the snow monkey park.
The snow monkeys are so cute but the weather was very sunny and melted most of the snow you associate with the monkey’s habitat. Bring good walking shoes as the walk up the mountain is a dirt path.
After having a wonderful bento lunch we headed over to Takada castle in the neighboring prefecture, Niigata. The cherry blossoms in Nagano weren’t in bloom yet but Endo-san made sure we got to see them. We drove an hour and half, just in time to celebrate the Hanamatsuri, cherry blossom festival in the town.
It felt like being in a slice of life anime. Snow capped mountains, sakura trees lining every path, locals enjoying the food stalls and vendors, families-couples-children walking all throughout. It was so scenic and beautiful.
I can’t recommend this tour enough. A big thank you to Endo-San for making the tour so great and being so thoughtful and lively the entire time !! 🌸✨

This tour was perfect. Joyce was very informative, knowledgeable and very kind. The snow monkeys are incredible to see in their natural habitat. Lunch was delicious, traditional Japanese bento. The cherry blossoms are blooming late this year but Joyce made sure to find us a place to view beautiful trees in full bloom.

A great day, be prepared for a long and tiring day especially if you are travelling from Tokyo to join the trip but we'll well worth every minute. The monkeys are amazing, very entertaining and so cute, the walk up, 1.6km/1 mile is not for the faint hearted and we ended up a bit muddy and with snow melting and dropping off the pines it was quite good fun trying to miss the bombing on your head as it was quite hard when it hit you. The lunch was delicious and to be honest I'm very picky with food. The cherry blossoms were beautiful and a perfect end to a perfect day

I've travelled to Nagano on a bullet train from Tokyo, which on its own was quite an experience. Louki, the agency rep, picked the group up at the station and we go onto a minibus which took us to the Snow Monkey Park first. Whilst we were on the way Louki very thoroughly explained the whole day itinerary to us. I must say that I had a good feeling about the tour right from the beginning as Louki was very well spoken, highly professional, knowledgeable and friendly. And I could not be more right!
The visit to the Snow Monkey Park was awesome, but I must admit that it was the Sakura cherry blossom trees that had made my day! It was such a great experience and the fact that the weather was amazing only enhance the whole encounter.
The tour also includes traditional Japanese lunch, which was very nice and tasty. I would highly recommend the Snow Monkey Resorts Tours as you will definitely be in very good hands, making sure that you are getting the most out of your tour!

It was exciting to see how many monkey's there were and watching them enjoy themselves in the hot springs. It was a great hike up to their location. The afternoon lunch was very delicious. Also, cherry blossoms are as pretty as I was expecting them to be. Our tour guide Peter was very friendly and made it a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this experience.
