Nous étions seulement 4 personnes et notre guide a pris le temps de nous faire un tour de ville avec les explications très intéressantes . Nous avons eu la chance pendant quelques minutes de voir le volcan et wowww quelle beauté nous sommes resté environ 1:30 sur le volcan et nous avons jamais senti de pression pour qu’on se dépêche ....par la suite ville de Cartago l’église . Notre guide nous a guidés à travers de très beaux endroits montagneux et nous avons également pu voir des ours, des oiseaux, des serpents, des pumas, des jaguars et de nombreux animaux Ils étaient très gentils, j'ai beaucoup aimé la visite du café et le volcan.Rédigé le 10 septembre 2019

Great trip! Our guide was super knowledgeable and showed us animals and plants throughout our hike that I would have never seen going alone! I wish we would have spent a little more time in the hot springs but for one day and the amount of things you get to do it’s totally worth it! I recommend taking the 500 and change steps down to the Fortuna waterfall!

Terrible the company cancelled @ 7:20 the night before, when we were suppose to be picked up at 6:00 am, after 6:30, I checked my email only to find it was cancelled, not a call just an email, not to mention we went to bed early to get up at 4:30 am, as we were told to be in the lobby by 6:00 am! And my money was not refunded immediately, I was told it could take up to eight days! We were told there was an accident the day before and they could not find replacement transportation! They did offer other days, but we had already booked other excursions way in advance just like this one!

I am sorry that your experience was not the best with us, it was an unfortunate situation but we had to cancel because due to logistical issues we could not organize your experience last minute, as you booked last minute.
In this case, your refund is not managed by us, but by the company that sold you the tour (Viator).

Hayro was our guide for the day and he is an absolute professional. We learned so much from him, he was very patient with our group, and we had a great time.
There is a lot of walking and some of it is at a brisk pace. We started out with the waterfall, which is breathtaking. My friends and I went down to the bottom (500 steps down and 500 back up). Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes; the stairs are wet, not necessarily slippery, but definitely wet. We left the waterfall and headed to the hanging bridges - it is about an hour/ two hour van ride between the waterfall and arrival at Mistico Park. Hayro set a good pace but it is very hilly, prepare yourself. The views are gorgeous. We brought ponchos but luckily the weather was perfect. Not too hot with the perfect amount of breeze. We left the hanging bridges and headed over to the Hot Springs. When I was deciding on excursions, I kept going back and forth but what made this one worth the extra money was the hot springs. We arrived at the resort and they had so many different springs for us to try of varying temperatures (I felt like Goldie Locks at one point). The hot springs with a Pina Colada in a Pineapple was the perfect ending to the day. Thank You Hayro and I cannot wait to return and tour with you again.

Hayro was a great guide. Made an effort to keep things entertaining during the long drives. Was very knowledgeable about the wildlife in the rain forests around Arenal. Would recommend.

Hayro is een geweldige tourguide. Hij spreekt vloeiend Engels en Spaans en heeft een enorme kennis van Costa Rica. Met veel humor weet hij je te vermaken en leert hij je over de geschiedenis van het land, cultuur en natuur. Hij is erg alert en weet verschillende dieren in het wild te spotten. De bezochte plekken zijn ook zeker een hoogtepunt van de vakantie. Je krijgt voldoende tijd om la Fortuna, Arenal, de bruggen en hotsprings te bezoeken. Een aanrader!

We had an exceptional excursion. First of all, a sincere thank you to Hayro, our guide. He took great care to meet the needs of the group, was an amazing wildlife spotter and had a great knowledge of the area and its history. He was very, very friendly and aware of the group's needs. Oh, and if you want good photos, Hayro is your man. He took a lot of pictures on our phones that were spectacular. I can't say enough about Hayro. He is a ten star guide on a scale of five. The tour itself was awesome. The Mistoco suspension bridges were fun and we saw a lot of wildlife including spider monkeys, birds and snakes. Bring a raincoat, it's the rainforest and rain comes and goes. Also, bring good walking shoes. It's about a 2K hike with ups and downs, the trail is gentle and not hard, but I think you need to wear closed toe shoes. It's a very cool place. 5 stars!!! Next stop Arenal Falls. The falls are amazing and we were able to swim in the pools. The massive flow of water is a sight to behold and really very intense. For the adventurous and if you are open, a dip in the main pool of the falls is exhilarating and exciting. You really feel the force of the water flowing from the volcano. There is a second swimming area that is quieter and very pleasant as well. Very good for small children. Hayro kept us all together as we walked down (and later up) the 500 stairs to access the waterfall. Note that Hayro made sure we had all the logistics down (where to change into bathing suits, what we needed for that particular adventure. The falls were 5 star too! Lunch was typical Costa Rican casado. Choice of proteins, beans, rice and other side dishes. The food at the restaurant we visited was very, very good (best I have had so far on our trip to CR). Highly recommend the fish and as a drink the lemonade with mint - yummy! 5 stars! If you like outdoor activities and being in nature, this tour is for you. We loved it. Keep in mind that it is a real full day. We were picked up in the morning and returned in the afternoon. A couple of recommendations: 1. Rain jackets are a must. It may rain. 2. Bring quick-drying clothes, especially if you want to swim in the falls. It is easier than changing. 3. Wear comfortable shoes that you feel comfortable in. 4. 4. Have fun. I loved this excursion. I hope you did too.

We loved this tour with Hayro our guide and would recommend it to anyone, he was super friendly, helpful, considerate, personal and knowledgeable - educating us not only about the Irazu volcano but about San Jose and the region in general.
Volcán Irazú tour was informative and fun. We spent some time "above the clouds" enjoying the spectacular views of the craters, mountains and beyond.

Our guide was Hayro. He speaks English very well and had lots of knowledge to share. I would recommend packing towels, swimsuits, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, a camera, and binoculars. Consider a book, podcast, music, portable charger so you can use your phone, etc. It is a long stretch of driving without breaks and can be quite boring, especially in the dark.
If you want to get in the water at the waterfall, you may want to wear your swimsuit under your clothes from the outset. If not, there are locker rooms at the hot springs and you have an opportunity to change.
Even though the sticker price on this tour was a bit higher than some of the others I saw, it was a small group (only 4 of us) and everything was included - all transportation, a light breakfast (deli sandwich, cookie, and a banana), a large three-course lunch at Los Lagos, and admission at all stops.
It was about 3 hours from San Jose to our first stop. You can see the waterfall from a lookout point or climb up and down 512 stairs to get a closer look and take a dip in the water. There’s also a little restaurant and souvenir shop if you want to buy any snacks or drinks. The next stop is around the other side of the Arenal Volcano - about 25 min away. The full loop through the rainforest and across all 6 suspension bridges took at least an hour and a half. After, you begin the return trip back to San Jose. It’s approximately 10 minutes to Los Lagos. Lunch is served first, then you have a chance to swim and explore the hot springs. Then it’s approximately 3 hours back to San Jose. We left around 7am and returned around 8pm.

We did this as a day trip from San José. Our guide was amazing - very prompt, very knowledgeable about Costa Rican history and wildlife, and perfect English. The La Fortuna waterfall was beautiful. Best part of the day for me were the hanging bridges - we saw mostly birds and insects but did see a tamandua and some coatis on our way out of the park. The bridges through the canopy are gorgeous and it was a very peaceful (not strenuous) hike. We then ate lunch at one of the resorts and were able to enjoy the hot springs. We spent about 1.5 hours at the hot springs and it would have been nice to stay longer but we had a long drive back. It is a little over a 3 hour drive there and back from San José which is quite a trek (bring something to do in the car, I listened to an audiobook) but a good option for people based in San José who still want to see Arenal.
Only but of constructive feedback I have is that I would have preferred a shorter lunch and more hot spring time! The lunch was 3 courses (and delicious) but took a while. Sounds like that varies from day to day though so may be different for other travelers.

Alejandro was incredible!! The driver and Alejandro arrived at our hotel early ready for a great day! He brought us to a cute cafe to get us breakfast, and had us try the empanadas! They were awesome!! Then we went to the Waterfall where he became our personal photographer and showed us all the cool areas. We traveled to the hanging bridges park, where he pointed out cool exotic animals and even found a snake! He was very positive and said the volcano was going to come out of the fog. It did! He was very positive and friendly. We ate a wonderful lunch and engaged in great conversation. He was very accommodating to our every need! He really made our trip! 100% recommend this trip with ALEJANDRO! Thanks so much! We will be back!
