Best salmon fishing of my life!
août 2021
First of all, a huge shout-out to our guide, Hunter, and our pilots, Corey and Mark. Hunter was incredibly professional and knowledgeable, guiding us to many points of interest and to a fishing hole where everyone in our group quickly caught our limit of huge silvers and sockeye! Even at the end of the trip, when the weather turned a bit nasty and we were delayed getting picked up by the plane, he kept our attention by running up the river and back, and hunting for some elusive wildlife around the lake. Both trips in the Beaver were smooth, and it was fantastic getting the chance to fly in such a piece of Alaskan history as well. Highly recommend this trip!

Gave my 80 something Father a fishing trip of a lifetime!
août 2021
My brother and I thank Tom, Ben and the entire team for providing a fishing trip of a lifetime for my 80 something Father (and my Brother, Friend and I)! Ben's takeoff and landings in the float plane were super smooth. Ben and Tom took great care in helping to select a place where my Dad could succeed despite some physical limitations.

Tom rescued a 12 pound silver for my Dad when it ran towards the motor then the back anchor line and another save when we had two silvers on!

The lake fishing was exceptional for the big fighting silvers, but add on the beauty of the surrounding waterfalls and the 7 brown bears we saw on shore eating salmon swimming upstream ... well it was the best day!

Sincerely,

Eric and Brad

Fly in fishing trip
Great experience! Our pilot, Phil, was great. Professional and felt very safe. Fun flight with gentle takeoff and landing. Our guide, Tyler, was amazing! Very kind, funny and great with my kids. He got us onto some great fish, but also some amazing viewing of bears while fishing. For a family without lots of fishing experience, he made us feel at ease and like pros. Would definitely recommend this experience and both of these guys!

Amazing day with Derek
juil. 2021 • En famille
Derek put us on some beautiful sockeye salmons today!!! Then took us to see some bears, cooked us a piece of salmon AND cooked us some moose dogs on his bbq on his boat - could not have asked for a better day on our vacation in Alaska. If you’re going to do this trip request Derek!

Absolutely Fabulous!
août 2020
We had an all-around incredible day from start to finish. From the second we met Drew we knew we had a great adventure ahead of us. Our pilot Mark was the ultimate pro and great with our small kids - age 6 and 7. We enjoyed a safe, smooth ride over a stunning glacier on our way to Big River Lakes. Drew's love of fishing and the great outdoors was infectious from the start. We immediately stumbled upon a fishing bear and hundreds of silvers - we never expected to be fishing alongside a bear - this will be an experience we'll always remember. In addition to being an excellent fishing guide and all-around joy to be around - Drew was excellent with the kids. He helped them reel in quite a few fish and have been gloating about it for the past week! An experience not to be missed!

We are thrilled to hear that you had such an amazing adventure with High Adventure! Drew's passion for fishing and the outdoors is infectious! Glad your kids had such a fun experience as well. Seeing the bear in their element and fishing beside them is definitely an experience not to be missed. I agree! We hope to see you in the near future for another fabulous Alaskan adventure!

Epic
août 2020
What a memorable day with plenty of fish, and bear sightings. Since the weather was nice, Mark took us on a little glacier viewing tour before heading back.

Seeing the bear and having so many fish in the beautiful Alaskan setting is something to behold! It sounds like you had a perfect day with a perfect ending as you saw the the Glacier. We are happy to hear that it was an Epic experience. We hope to see you next year. Thanks again, High Adventure

Bear Viewing Experience (with a little bit of fishing)
Plane flight travels from Soldotna, AK to Wolverine Creek (Big River Lakes) over majestic Lake Clark National Park (I wish there was commentary on headphones; I hope this could be added). The scenery was breathtaking! Glaciers, a volcano, creeks, mountain range - all highly visible as the pilot flies pretty low to make sure you get the full experience! Our pilots were genuine and most of all safe.

To fishermen: you will have a 30 minute window to catch sockeye at the base of the creek. There will be a line of boats waiting just like you. We did each catch 2 salmon (our limit). Our guide Ben later gave us an opportunity to catch silvers at another location close by. He was the utmost professional and allowed us to have a well rounded trip for silvers and sockeye. But by no means is this a SECLUDED fly out trip.

To those who want to see bears: On our trip, bears were plentiful! Bears were swimming around our boat within feet! It was amazing! Bears walked around the waterfall our ENTIRE visit! We even saw a momma chase a baby bear into the woods. There was one sleeping next to the cave above the creek.

I’d just like to say our entire Alaskan vacation was 15 days and bear viewing on this excursion was my most memorable and amazing experience! For fishing though, hire a private guide on the Kenai River. We did go at the end of the season so I can’t speak for the fishing on the first run of salmon. Overall it was an amazing experience! Don’t hesitate to book!

Be Specific About What You Want
juil. 2020
In 2019 we fished silvers on the Kuskatan and had a great time. Signed up for silver salmon fishing again July 2020 and instead was taken to a different lake. Told that silvers were slow (2 fish with 5 fishermen that morning) so instead was taken to Wolverine Creek to see the bears and fish sockeye. Boats were stacked up in a line and each boat only got to spend 30 minutes (timed) fishing the only hole they were catching fish in. It was near the end of the sockeye run and the fish were getting darker. We caught 5 fish among 5 fishermen. For bear viewing, this was 4/5 star, but for fishing, I would've rather stayed flossing on the Kenai. Ultimately, it was my error because I signed up for silver fishing rather than specifically requesting the Kuskatan (but I would have thought I would be sent where the silvers could be caught). Not sure how decisions were made because a group flying out at the same time went to the Kuskatan. If you want a crowded bear viewing, ask for Wolverine. If you want a more secluded silver trip, specifically request Kuskatan. I do believe this is a good company but my "Silver Salmon" fishing trip did not meet expectations.

Fly out best thing I did in Alaska.
juin 2020
It was a great trip. Our guide David Rogers met us at the plane and laid out how the day was going to go. The people in the office were very helpful. The flight was very easy and simple. When we got to the fishing grounds David explained more thoroughly what we were going to do and showed us how to cast and fish. He was very patient as we are not really fishermen he helped a lot. He continually asked our input as to where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see. Based our decision on his judgment and knowledge it worked out well. That’s why they’re there. It was a great trip. I’d absolutely recommend it. 5 out of 5

NO REGARD FOR SAFETY OR FOR CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE!
juin 2019
NO REGARD FOR SAFETY OR FOR CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE! We highly recommend you use another company for the fly-out fishing trips. High Adventure Air, unfortunately, has no regard for their clients' safety, their experience, or for addressing issues after they arise. They're focused on pushing as many people through and making as much as they can. I understand a business needs to make money, but not at the jeopardy of others.

We were booked for a flyout fishing trip through the Lodge we were staying at. It was my father & I and we were told that it would be either the two of us, or possibly up to two others would be paired with us. On the day of, we were paired with three other people.

First problem - 5 is too many people to be on 16' boat. The type of fishing requires everyone fishing from one side of the boat, which is 100% impossible with 5 people and a guide in the boat. This type of fishing also requires repetitive casting, which created a very unsafe environment when everyone was trying to cast in a confined area. I was hooked in the hand by one of the other guests due to the crowded space and his not paying attention. Our guide was visibly frustrated and verbally expressed that they never should have put 5 people on a trip. He spent the majority of the day moving from one spot to another and I feel that part of the reason is that he was annoyed with the fishing and wanted to keep our lines out of the water by spending time moving. Everyone was frustrated and it created an unpleasant day.

Second & BIGGEST problem - When we were checking in, the group that we were paired with arrived. It was an elderly couple with their grandson. The woman came in and explained that the man could not come in because he was unable to make it up the 2 stairs to their entry. We saw him and he could barely walk. This trip requires you to climb 3-4 steps into a very small plane in order to fly to the fishing spot. Once there, you unload from the plane and board the boat. If someone can't walk up 2 stairs, they definitely cannot get into the plane. They should have stopped them at that point, recognized for safety concerns he should not fly and refunded their money. But, High Adventure Air doesn't care about that. They just wanted their money. The couple also said that due to the man's back problems, the man needed a chair/seat with backrest, which the little boats do not have. Again, they should have been told that for safety concerns he couldn't make this trip. Jumping ahead to boarding the plane. My father & I boarded and were in the back 2 seats. The back two seats require climbing over the middle row of seats. It then took 3 adults to push & pull the man into the plane, which you could see caused him pain. After about 10 mins, they finally had him crammed into the plane and the other two were in. Once everyone was in, if there had been any type of emergency, we would have been trapped in the plane. The only way for us to exit the back would be through the two side doors, which were located at the middle seats. The man was unable to move, let alone get out of the plane. Once we arrived at the dock to unload, it took another 10 mins for them to get him out of the plane. Once he got into the boat he nearly fell out. I don't know how they caught him last second, but it was a miracle. I honestly don't know what would have happened, but it wouldn't have been good. During the day of fishing, he was visibly in pain and very miserable. For the flight back, I think they recognized the safety concern they created on the way out and they decided to put him in back. It was another 10-15 minute process of trying to get him in. If there had been an emergency, we would have at least been able to get out this time, but he never would have. Once we got back to the doc, we unboarded and they went through the process of getting him out. Once he was on the dock and took a couple of steps, he collapsed. The eventually got him up and to a chair, where he sat for a little bit. We left at that point and I don't know what happened from there.

Third & Final Problem - There was Zero concern from ownership. Once we were back home, I reached out to the owner of the lodge that we stayed at. He was very concerned and gave me the owner's name and said to reach out so he could address it. I reached out and spoke with a woman in the office at High Adventure Air, explained what happened and asked to speak with their owner. She said he was not available, but he would be in touch the following day. After not hearing anything for a day, I followed back up. This went on for a few days. Basically, they took ZERO accountability, the owner would never talk to me, and they said that sending 5 people happens all the time. In the end, the owner of our Lodge is paying for the whole thing even though it wasn't his fault. We're in the process of filing a safety complaint with the FAA and recommend you use another company that cares.

With High Adventure Air, SAFETY OF OUR CLIENTS AND AIRCRAFT is of the utmost concern. For 35 years we have been a licensed air taxi charter, licensed by the FAA and state of Alaska. We fly FAA approved aircraft that have been designed by the manufacturer to where all passengers, in any seat, can exit. High Adventure Air does not discriminate against any age or disability, and welcome anyone to our company. Safety is our number one concern and we would never knowingly put anyone in unsafe conditions or situations. Regarding your complaint about five people in a boat, our company is equipped to safely and comfortably accommodate up to five people per tour. We never tell clients we cap the capacity at four people since we do take five at times. Our guides are experienced in safely and professionally handling up to five clients in the comfort of our 18’ boats. It is common to fish multiple locations as this can increase your chances if fishing happens to be slow in one location. Regrettably, we were unable to resolve this in a timely manner as your tour took place in June and you did not reach out with your complaint until late July. After speaking with myself, the office manager, and not being able to satisfy your concerns, I was sure to immediately follow up with the owner. We contacted the lodge owner, and after communicating and expressing your concerns we agreed to offer you a 50% discount on a future flyout in hopes of offering you a better experience. Unfortunately, you declined our offer, which we felt was fair and adequate. We have a long good standing relationship with the FAA, and since we have violated no safety regulations or concerns, we would welcome any communication that would arise from this situation.
