We booked a group trail for French Connection. This was my first trail tour, and the experience was mind-blowing. Our guide, Mrs Akila, is an amazing story teller and mesmerized the group with the French story in Pondicherry. She wonderfully narrated a connection of the landmarks, streets and buildings in White Town to the tales of the Generals, gossips of French bourgeois, history of the Anglo French rivalries in South India, stories of the Indian freedom movement, and the facts about the French architecture.
While Pondicherry remains a place for French Cuisine, serene beaches and the Aurobindo Ashram, French Connection trail by Storytrails tops them all as a must do activity.

Akila had taken us around Chennai learning about the history of the British and the East India Company in Chennai and so in Pondicherry we heard all about the French in India.
Akila is a gifted storyteller who loves her subject and all her fascinating stories gave you a depth of information that you would never get from an ordinary guide. Her research into the history of Pondicherry brought everything to life and it was wonderful to see that some of the French-era buildings were being refurbished, many as hotels and guest houses or government buildings.
Our tour finished with a wonderful Indian coffee from a street stall and a farewell to a lovely lady who already seemed like a good friend.

It was an extremely well curated walk made really interesting with many anecdotes and stories from Priya. Having been a student of History I must say that she had done her research in depth & articulated it so well.A passionate storyteller & at the same time very interactive & receptive.Not to forget one of the best filter coffee at the end at KBS ! One could clearly visualise the Pondicherry of earlier times after this walk.

A colleague and I took this tour, and it turned out to be amazing. The tour guide and story teller Priya is obviously passionate about her job, and is incredibly knowledgable about the area and it's history. He story telling is interesting, and she invites discussion and dialogue that make this more like a walk with a friend.

We had a great evening with Priya including a couple of unexpected interruptions which added extra colour to the stories.
I've been on the Chennai trail and intend to go on the Madurai one too. Love the concept as well as being able to potter along the streets learning about things you would never have discovered otherwise.
Priya went above and beyond in terms of customer service and it was a pleasure to meet her.
