It was quite an adventure climbing Mount Batulao. Unfortunately, the trail is bare. We noticed very few trees along the trail leading up to the summit. It was very hot. The trail is very narrow with no barriers on either side for protection and can be slippery. You can run the risk of falling off the cliff if you are not careful. So, always exercise caution, ask questions and listen to your tour guide.
At the base of the summit you need to scale/rappel the final portion of the trail using a rope. It took us approximately 6-7 hours to get to the summit from the jump off point and back.

It was a sunny day last March 5, 2019 when we went to Mt. Batulao for a day hike. The hike was not that easy due to the narrow parts of the trail. If you are planning to go to mt. Batulao, you have to prepare for sun protections, your clothing against the sun and of course sun block as there are no trees there, only bayabas and you can't benefit to its small shade haha. The hike lasted for 5-6 hrs for traverse trail. What I also loved about the mountain is that there are lots of sampinit (wild raspberry) along the trail, so I just pick some ripe and eat it straight! Gluttony hahhaha that's all..

Took the hile and stayed overnight half way up the mountain. It was windy both days and the night was cold (hike was made in February) so remember warm clothes if you are camping out. Several peaks and areas where you needed to have balance due to narrow ledges. The view from the top was spectacular. If you start early in the morning, you can finish the entire hike in about 8 to 10 hours but if you can, view the sunset and sunrise from the mountain. You will not regret it. (There are points along the way where you have to pay fees so remember to bring money. There are guides you can hire at the base of the mountain and if you are unfamiliar with the mountain, I would suggest hiring one.) There are rest stops along the way where some locals sell snacks and drinks but try to bring at least a liter of water. Restrooms are not readily available but there are a few located at a couple of rest stops but you have to pay to use them.

IMPORTANT UPDATE 07/03/2019 :
ENTRANCE FEES : 300 Pesos/person/trail (and there is different trails -> pay again).
GUIDE : (COMPULSORY) 500 pesos/person
This amazing trail became a SCAM. We've been with my wife, we met at least 5 filipinos hikers or couples angry going back from the entrance because of the abusive new prices. And it's the price for Filipinos from this area. For foreigners it could be much more expensive. Last but not the least, there's more and more new check-point on the way (= pay again).
It means at MINIMUM 800 pesos (~15$) for ONE trail. Only here. Very greedy people. I met very disapointed Filipinos next to the entrance and nobody can/want pay these abusive fees.
Don't go, it's a full waste of time. There's anothers pretty nice hikes around. If you go, you'll pay transportation for nothing.

This is best recommended for beginners, but the sights or view that you will experience here very vast and beautiful compare to other minor hike. This is one of the most famous and beautiful mountains that I climb. The funny thing about its summit is you can eat halo-halo and buy some snacks there. Along with the stray dogs that can do better in hiking compare to human. The place is near to Tagaytay, Batangas, Cavite and Laguna. It is must for a good bucket list.Easy for a DIY plan and much better with the joiners. Worth spending.

This hike made me think of the next hiking adventures I should plan with my family! Definitely a must for family looking for an adventure without spending a lot of money. I highly recommend that you get a hiking guide for this activity. Only downside was to see trash on different areas. I hope those asking for registration fees on 4 stops should prioritize cleaning the area.

Mt. Batulao is one of the most popular mountain for beginners. We arrivedas early as 4AM and it was raining hard, we were afraid that the trail going up would not be passable because of the torrential rain but luckily it stopped but it the mud caused bu the rain was really a challenge. The hike itself would take you around 4-5 hrs back and forth but because of the scenario it took is almost 7 hours. View from above is priceless, I liked how the natives are protecting the area and how they preserve the beauty of Batulao.

Out of plans and a slight of ambitions that we can do it on the first we headed to Batangas to try Mt. Batulao,, after spending a day reading blogs me, my husband and my daughter and our 2 fur babies decided to go and packed our things, after 2 hours from Alabang we are on the point of no turning back :) so after parking our car we decided to drove a tricycle gong to the registration area we decided to take the old trail as suggested by our guide, we are still smiling when we started but after 1 hour of walking and climbing heights we don't talk to each other anymore hahaha!! as the only thing that coming out to our mouth are the breath of exhaustion! we keep on asking Kuya if Camp 1 is near already as we want to sit and rest so badly, after 2 hours with a bit of rest we reached Camp 6, the view is amazingly beautiful! the 2 hours climb is worth it, we go down to Camp 1 to pitch our tent and rest for awhile decided to climb peak in the afternoon, unfortunately it rains! so we decided to do it the next day.. we stayed for a nigh, but the weather seem don't like us to finished what we have started it rains until the next day... so our ambitions to conquer the peak for the first time didn't happened :( sad but at least we get close to nature..maybe next time ....

Hi TA friends! Friend and I are planning to hike Mt. Batulao. Where can we get a guide going up? or we can just show up at jump-off point and find a guide there?
Thanks in advance!
Rédigé le 6 mai 2019
In my experience, we talked to a staff member at the The Junction Tagaytay hotel where we were staying who had experience climbing Batulao and offered to join us. We also came across a local at the jump-off point who asked if we needed a guide and we accepted, which meant we had two experienced hikers with us. So you should have no problem finding someone at the trail base, just ask around when you are registering. And just FYI, there were many stops along the trail where you are required to pay a minimal fee, so bring cash (pesos).
Have fun and stay safe!

Hello! Are there restrooms located in and around the hiking trails?
Rédigé le 12 juillet 2018
Hi,
There is one restroom at Camp 1, but you have to pay for the water before you can use it. The area is intended only for that purpose so lower your expectation :)
