Looks like we visited on the very last day they will be open…maybe ever? Sign said closing, owner wants to retire. So if you are planning on visiting you’ll want to adjust.
The owner wasn’t rude like other people have mentioned but you could tell they were getting ready to shut the whole operation down. The building from the outside is still very picturesque.

The mill now appears to be closed. The location is pitched as a "village worth visiting" but the overly aggressive signage dotted all over the village makes it very clear that the locals don't want you there. I found the markation of 'private waterway' (the river Eye) particularly insulting, as this is not owned by any individual. They've made parking extraordinarily difficult and the place really gives off an unfriendly, unwelcoming vibe. Clearly they don't want tourists - I'm tempted to buy a few properties and convert them into cafes and sweet shops. That'll show them.

The Woman (Owner) Slammed the door in my face even when the notice said they were open! She screamed "We're closed!!" Enter at your own risk if you visit!!
At least they should have taken down the open sign which would have saved embarrassment and annoyance.

A nice walk around this very small village, with a beautiful church. The mill is now a gift shop, selling leather jackets and bags, as well as cast iron decorations. Some reviews said they sell ice cream but that was not so on the day we visited. The mill is still running and water is flowing.

We have been visiting The Old Mill for many years and have noticed that it is seriously declining in customer care and any items that anybody would want to buy. They main items they sell seem to be leather bags and jackets. In the past you could buy unique items and we never failed to buy anything from this lovely Old Mill shop. Years ago you could visit the museum inside the Mill itself, but it is currently closed and there is no longer a tea room. We were served by an extremely arrogant man who gave the impression that he didn't like any customers. Very disappointed at the lack of items for sale and the owner is badly letting down the tourist industry and should not have the privilege of owning such a historic Grade II listed building.

The worst experience I have ever had from a tourist / shop experience in my life whilst on holiday .
We were told that there were tea rooms but was told but a man at the shop it had closed 3 years ago didn’t we know ! He was rude , and spoke to us as if we were something off his shoe. Asked if we could use a toilet due to medical condition within our party and continued to be rude and arrogant and said know didn’t want to know. Shame as I was going in the shop , let’s hope he doesn’t close down with that attitude

We were looking forward to visiting Lower Slaughter Mill. We checked the opening times and we’re interested to visit and enjoy the craft shop and especially to try their ice cream, which sounded delicious from the descriptions on the website.
Unfortunately, having travelled quite a way to get there, we found the Mill closed at 2.30pm, when we arrived. There was no note of explanation on the door and we were just one of several bemused and disappointed groups of people there.
I understand that, in these tricky times, there may be illness or a shortage of staff- but the lack of consideration shown by not even explaining this (if that was the issue) by putting a note of some sort on the door, show scant regard for visitors.

We got a really helpful little walking map here which shows all the local walks. They have loads of lovely local items at great prices. Contrary to other reviews, the service was polite and friendly.

What an interesting place and lovely lady who runs it, if was quiet when we popped in and we found loads of great things to buy, do make conversation if it is quiet as the place has so much history. Well worth a visit and such a pretty tranquil location.

Hi, no not actually with the mill, you have to park on the road in the village and walk to it, only take a few mins to walk to the edge of the village.
kind regards
