碉楼壮观雄伟，历经千辛万苦，是世界文化遗产，是文明的象征，也是我们以前知识和艺术的见证，确实有很高的观赏性，值得一游的地方！

The Kaiping region are clusters of Diaolou structures that were solidly built with masonry and/or reinforced concrete so that they are strong enough to prevent break-ins by local bandits that roamed this area back in the early to mid 1900's. The Kaiping region is very meaningful to me in that this area was where my parents were born and raised, but not in the "luxury" areas. Around about 1930 to 1950 time period, many of the residents of the Kaiping area had "abandoned" the area for a "better life" elsewhere. Many of these Kaiping residents had moved to the USA - including my parents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
The Chinese government (along with UNESCO) had recognized the historical significance of this area and the unique architecture of the Diaolou buildings. UNESCO had designated four (4) different Diaolou clusters in Kaiping as UNESCO recognized historical sites - however, the Kaiping Garden (or Liyuan Garden) Diaolou clusters did not received the UNESCO designation which is a shame because It is probably the most colorful and photogenic of the different clusters of buildings.
Upon entering the Kaiping Garden (Liyuan or Li Garden) Diaolou cluster area, there is a very nice Visitor Center and Museum. The Museum has interesting information about the history about the Kaiping area and it people. It also has information about various families who had migrated from Kaiping to the USA and/or Canada.
After exiting the Museum, the pathway leads to a very lovely Garden area that is beautiful and relaxing to walk through. Past the Garden area is where the Diaolou buildings are located - some single level and some multi-level. The multi-level structures are much larger in size and are for the "wealthy" families of the area. This area is very nice to walk around and explore - go inside the open Diaolou buildings to see how they look like back then.
Very worthwhile and interesting to visit the Kaiping Garden area - especially if you know what happened to the people who had once lived in this area.

This place has quite a history and some of the representative watch towers of the region. However, strangely, it is not part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nonetheless, definitely should be part of the visit to the area.

These buildings are well preserved with what appear to be furniture of the early 20th China. The story being this place is interesting with a well off business family opting to keep their families in a beautiful and safe place while they went out and built their businesses. The gardens are remnants of what were clearly an amazing place, but there is enough there to give a sense of what it must have been like.
A very different lifestyle too, with references to multiple wives....
We were able to use out tickets for the other village here, so I do not think that the cost was High, particularly where the place is clean and well preserved.
Food sellers, while at the entrance are not allowed in, so our visit was very relaxed and enjoyable.
I had wanted to visit this unique World Heritage site for some time and was not disappointed.

I really like that garden, very good gardening and nice water ways with small bridges and trees with spending shadow. Recommended!

華僑が作った庭園と別荘が見れます。とても優雅な感じですが、非常に管理が行き届いて観光地化されており、歴史はあまり感じにくいです。但し、建築に興味がある人は、外国の文化が融合した建物群は一見の価値ありです

開平の碉楼は基本的にひとつに一家族が暮らすものですが、ここはスケールが違います。一つの建物にひとり（もしくは夫婦）が住んでたり、別宅があったりと、広い敷地全体に一族で住んでいたというものです。財力が桁違いのため、調度品も豪華で、ほかの碉楼群の楽しみ方とはちょっと違います。
自力村と同じように英語や日本語の解説も充実しており、ビジターセンターやトイレもきれいです。入り口にはお土産屋やコンビニもあるので、とても便利。みどころはいろいろありますが、入り口のピンクのベントレー、ビジターセンターの天井の飾り、鳥や花だけのために作られた欧中折衷の建物、不景気を克服するために建てた虎を追い払う鞭、書類を焼くためだけに作られた塔、運河とそれを楽しむために作られたあずまやや回廊、などなどとにかく金持ち具合が桁外れで圧倒されるばかりです。

自力村の後に観光しました。そのせいか少し迫力に欠けます。また観光客が少ないので世界遺産らしくないです。自力村とあまり変わりませんのでここだけを見に行く必要はないと思います。

The best Diaolou in this area is in Li Gardens. Very luxuriously built with an extended garden which adds to it's charm. The Diaolous are open for you to go into and explore..
The entry ticket is covered if you take the combined ticket for Zili villages + this. Otherwise on it's own it is on the expensive side of around 100 RMB.
The architecture is interesting because it borrows heavily from European architecture but has it's own local flavor as well. The garden is calming if not exceptionally manicured.
Quite nice to walk around for a couple of hours.
Toilets are available inside but I did not see any other amenities such was water/food inside the complex. When you go out of the complex gate, you will find these.
Wechat as payment for ticket is accepted.
Sports shoes recommended, parking is available.
Not to be skipped at all if you are going to Kaiping.

Taman ini harga tiketnya cenderung mahal meskipun bisa menggunakan tiket gabuangan diaolou. Di dalamnya biasa saja hanya ada informasi tentang desa diaolou dulu dan sekarang. Ada sedikit bangunan bergaya diaolou juga. Koneksi bus kesini sangat susah meskipun disediakan gratis. Kadang harus sampai 1 jam menunggu bus untuk berpindah ke desa diaolou lain.
