Unfortunately, our visit took place on a rainy day and we were unable to tour the vineyard.
We limited ourselves to the tasting, but it was excellent, with a long conversation about the plantations, the grapes, bottling, everything.

Expectations were high, but the service was very poor/poor.
Our lunch was indoors, even with good weather outside in the garden.

This was so good! Took an Uber from Santiago to get there- if you do this, make sure Uber driver knows where they are going, because location is a bit obscure. When we arrived, turned out that we were a tour of two people. Claudia, our guide, was just great at explaining the history, current establishment and overall operation and philosophy of Tarapaca. Tastings were great, the estate is elegant and lunch was so so good. We ate amongst the trees and were served at our own little table. Food was delicious, only eclipsed by the fine bottle of black label Carmeniere that was left at our table. A wee bit awkward to get to from Santiago, but oh so worth it!!

We were staying in Santa Dominico and decided to visit Vina Tarapaca after getting a couple of bottles from the vineyard from the local supermarket.
Booking online was straightforward, and we found the vineyard fairly easily, although the signage at the gate was a bit confusing. Initially, we parked at what we realized was the staff car park. After we found the actual house where the visitors are received, it was plain sailing. The guide, Claudia, spoke perfect English and gave an interesting tour of the gardens, which have a wonderful range of native species.
She gave a potted history of the vineyard, and some information on its latest corporate ownership, and explained a little about which grape varieties were grown, why the local soil and climate conditions were suitable for the (red) varieties that were grown there. We were spared a tour of the vats, barrels etc., which was fine with us as this was not our first vineyard tour.
Then we had a tasting of just two bottles from the black label range. This allowed us to have a more extensive discussion of the wines themselves, as well as some further general chat about the direction the brand is being developed.
Finally, we had our four-course meal, with wines chosen to match each course. This was really very good, and great value. We were on a table with just the two of us (one other couple, Spanish-speaking, were on the only other table). The service was efficient and discrete. Really, the experience was at a considerably elevated level compared to what I was expecting.
We did buy a few bottles in the shop, but there was no hard sell. The whole experience was very refined, compared to the scrum I have experienced. The wine seemed very cheap, compared to what we were expecting (actually, compared to what our Chilean friends has told us to expect).
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this. I felt treated like a valued guest, rather than an item on a production line.

Good wines and an excellent private “two step” lunch (paired with two different bottles) in this beautiful 1874 house (“casone”) with awesome italian style (tuscan) furniture and decorative pieces. Thanks to Mrs. Gabriela and to the entire team for the reception and hospitality.

We did a fantastic tour, tasting, and 3-course meal at this vineyard. The location is absolutely spectacular and the guide was knowledgeable and eager to answer our questions. Most of all, we absolutely loved the wines!

Recomendado, tour casi privado, hermoso lugar.

Pode me ajudar? Super obrigada e um abraço.
