It's a nice village. We drove around since it was too hot to walk. It's scenic and life is slow. This is usually done on the day you cover Langza, chicham and komic

We visited this village after exploring the Key monastery, we wanted to grab a cup of coffee/tea right in the middle of the village.
While we were on our way a few local people walking along the road requested us for a lift in our car, surprisingly the man and the woman happened to be owners of a small café in the village.
We chatting and gathered information about the village, the people, the lifestyles etc.
After reaching the Kibber village we relaxed at the café which had an outstanding view of the valley!
It was simply a fantastic experience at Kibber Village.

Situated at 14,200 ft, 20kms from Kaza. One must stay here overnight to experience village life. There are many things to do around Kibber such as drive to Gette and Tashigong (recommended). Gette has population of 10people and Tashigang has 20 people. You can encounter wildlife on the way during sunrise and sunset.
Chicham bridge, which is world's highest bridge is also located 3kms away. View from bridge is amazing,

It looked like any other village in Spiti. What made it different was the experience. As we walked through the desolate street, an old lady called us in. She and her family were very welcoming. They made us a hot beverage that warmed us up from inside. They were roasting their barley to store it up for the winter. They told us stories about their village and we left, feeling blessed.

Out of the other villages found this one a little bigger with more choices for the homestays. From here they have a few treks also and good for people who love to trek around for sure or just pick a homestay and relax for a few days.

Yes, you can definitely go in May. Much better it shall be considering it shall be Pre Monsoon Season which starts around June-July up tp August.
Going through Manali-Kaza Highway entirely depends on Rohtang La. Whereas, Shimla-Kaza Route, the longer route is accessible the year round.
