Never miss the treking to Kodachadri when in Kollur
After darshan in MOOKAMBIKA temple we went to kodachadri hills
We took a jeep to the hills they charge you Rs 470 per head (rates as on NOV 2022 ) The journey is around 40 Kms ,initially the roads are good ,passes through few small villages then enters the forest area the road is narrow ,muddy and rocky ,with roller coaster experience This is the place from where Goddess Saraswathi apperared before the Sage Shankaracharya during Penance .
There a small temple where Goddess Saraswathi appeared
Nothing to worry are the drivers are expert and vehicle in good condition
the drive is an experience that one should have
The last 1.6 Kms have to be trekked to reach the seat of Shankaracharya's meditation platform
once you are at the top you can experience nature ,good atmosphere
It is lovely experience to trek even for beginners
The positive energy derived after the trek down is immense and needs to be experienced

Went to the Kodachadri trek organized by thrillophila
Had a great time it was a very holistic trek. Chellenging but very rewarding for beginner trekkers. Except for the uncomfortable tempo traveller vehicle everything else was good enough for the budget. Definitely recommended.

Green Heaven on earth, we took a jeep and started the trek. The entire trail is awesome. Wonderful experience. Beware of leeches. Carry water bottles and light snacks.

On the way to Kodachadri from Sigandur, we stopped by a small hotel as we were very hungry. The name of the hotel is HOTEL KRISHNA BHAVAN. If you expect ambience, skip this place... if you want to enjoy eating great food, please have fish meals here. The food was just awesomeee served by a humble owner of this place.

The jeep drive to the peak is nothing short of adventure. Not for the faint hearted. But you will be rewarded with great views and photo opportunities.
The charges from our homestay (Simha farms) upto the peak and back was 2800. The drivers are talented to maneuver this route. From the parking the peak is a 40min medium level trek.

I guess the best time to visit is immediately after rains or Monsoon.. I went on Jan 26th, but the greenery is becoming brownish already and the sun has started to beat down hard.. You will be exhausted after the jeep ride and wont have anymore energy to walk for long. Also you need to negotiate with the jeep folks to let you stay longer. These guys will tell that you will need to pay fine for longer stay etc. so you need to know someone local who can talk to these folks and comply. A single jeep ride for a family of 5-6 would cost you Rs 2500

This trek is so beautiful. We (8 of us, mine and my brother-in-law's family) did this trek on Jan 16th with my family. The first few kilometers passes through dense forest. We enjoyed sight of massive trees, hearing birds chirping throughout. We visited Hidlumane falls on the way, astonishingly beautiful and soothing and refreshing water. The trek, after that becomes bit challenging and tests your limit. Overall, it is a fantastic one and full package of scenery, mountain, forest and temples too.

About kodachadri and Reaching Kodachadri:
I don’t want to talk about geographic nature of the peak, because you can find that in google. But I will provide you little information for travel plan. Kodachadri is located in Shivamooga district of Karnataka. If you want to reach there by bus, you can book train till Banglore/Mysore from chennai and then take bus to Kollur Mookambika temple, you can find few buses to Kollur from Banglore/Mysore (Visit Karnataka transport site). At the end I have mentioned complete package of our Memorable Trip.
Mysore to Kattinahole drive through mist (240 Kms from Mysore via shivmooga):
As planned we started complete night drive by car to Akshaya home stay Kattinahole, where we booked our rooms. We completed our dinner in Motel (Dhaba) and tasted their special Delicious Neer Dosai for first time by 21:00 Hrs. We all had somewhat sleep in car, Me and My friend planned to stay awake on shift basis to keep driver fresh, around 3 A.M. we stopped car for light refreshment near one road side tea shop, but our little refreshment transferred to heavy refreshment as we ate Suda Suda Idly, after filling our stomach we then started our journey to kattinahole. Around 4:30 there were fog everywhere, so Driver Madhu slowed the car and we were moving like tortoise as expected our GPS connection lost, we knew that we are in to tower restricted area only BSNL connects in some places. Finally we reached our Home Stay by 6.
Much awaited Kodachadri Trek (26 Kms Bothway) Sunday 27-01-2019:
After Refreshing breakfast around 7:30 we started with our guide to Kodachadri peak, there are two ways to reach there one by road-complete off Road drive by Jeep and other is our favourite Trek Route, also we came to know that January month is the last month for trek route, Then it commences again from 1st week of August, (Confirm before getting there) but Jeep route is open on all days. After getting entry tickets and permission for trekking from forest department we started our fun filled and moderate difficulty level trek, for some of our friends this is the first time trek. Trekking with friends will always be fun, we all took waterbottles as it is a necessary one. We started climbing slowly and steadily through the trees and slopes of almost 60 degrees inclination in mountain. After Three kilometres we found a house with small shop, we purchased snacks and saw farmers using their buffaloes to farm their fields. It is such a wonderful treat for your eyes as there are greeneries everywhere. Then we enjoyed bathing in Hidlumane Waterfalls for about an hour. Once again started to trek steadily in between deep forests. By 13:00 hrs we reached Jeep end point, from there every one has to climb two kilometres for the peak. At the Jeep end point we had our lunch.
At the top there is Shankara Peetam also called as Sarvajna Peetam, where adhi shankara prayed for Mookambika devi, last two kilometers will be crowded by people as this is a sacred place. After completing our lunch we reached the peak by 2:30, we visited shankara peetam and we treated our eyes with extreme greeneries all around and our body with fresh air . Then we started our trek back to our home stay and reached around 6: 30.
We took hot water bath after reaching our home stay, had nice dinner in front of campfire, talking about trek memories, finally moved to bed with our unforgettable memories.
Moving Back to Mysore by Travera 28-01-2019:
Next day, we completed our tour by visiting to Mookambika temple, Nagara fort and started our onward journey to Mysore railway station for boarding Cauvery Express train to reach chennai. Our Sweet Memories ends here.
Our Trip Cost:
Train Cost: 1300/Person
Travera Charge: 8400 for 3 days (7500+Driver Beta+Night Driving Charge)
Stay Charge: 1000/Person which includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Stay, Camp fire is free if more than 5 members or you have to pay 500.
For Guide: 800 Rs.
Total Cost: 3800/Person form Chennai to Chennai (Inclusive of everything)
OFF Road Jeep drive will Cost around 1500

Tips:
Carry adequate water bottle, wear full length Socks, take table salt to avoid leech biting, dark chocolates and few snacks to boost your energy level, don’t take heavy luggages, pack your backpack wisely.
Always book trusted local cabs near the place you want to visit, so that you can able to know better about their place, their culture and less explored areas.
I particularly suggest to avoid using own car/self-drive if you are going to the place very first time.
