Well worth the 2.5 to 3 hours climb/trek on the way up from Sari village. It's not a walk! One would like to linger for hours at the taal and the return down takes about 45 minutes or more. The views are mesmerizing and the lake has all the enigma one expects of the yaksha taal of Mahabharata, that it is presumed to be. A guide is not required but Mr Negi, whom we found at the starting point (shop opposite the entrance to the trek), kept us entertained all through, pointing out all the precious herbs, medicinal plants, wildflowers and the peaks on the way up. The parikrama of the lake can also take 20 minutes.
Tip : If one wishes to see the reflection of the mountain peaks, including Chaukhamba, in the pristine waters, one must reach up by 11. After 12.30 the peaks are almost always covered in clouds, obstructing the reflection.

This is a fantastic place away from all city noise and pollution.
A peaceful, serene and calm place to rejuvenate.
We visited and halted at the campsite here on our Chopta-Chandrashila trek.
April to November would be a great time to visit.

I made a two day solo trip to Chopta and after doing Tungnath/Chandrashila trek on first day, I had half a day in spare before starting my journey back. I asked my host if he can drop me to Saari village from Chopta as I had read very good reviews of Deoriatal trek. It took us around 1 hour by car from Chopta to Saari and my host talked to a local shop owner to keep my luggage with them.

I started my trek at around 7 AM and I was the first person to start the trek at that time. Most people stay at Ukhimath or Chopta and do a day trip to Saari for the trek so they start a bit later in the day. The trek is moderate, definitely more difficult than Tungnath/Chandrashila trek. It says 2.5 Kms but I think the overall trek is around 3-3.5 Kms at least. At normal pace it would take around 2 hours to reach the top. I tried to take a couple of shortcuts into the forest but got lost and had to come back. I would advise not to take shortcuts unless you have a local with you.

The view from the top is just mesmerizing. Especially when you are the only one there. You can see the reflection of Chaukhamba mountain in the lake and with all the lush greenery, it looks magical. There is also a small watchtower there which you can climb to get a better view of the mountain ranges in front of view. You can also walk through the tree cover surrounding the lake and can circle the lake on foot.

The entire area is very clean and there is also a guard there which will charge you 150 Rupees per person to enter the lakeside area. Not sure how official is that but there is a board from Uttarakhand Tourism explaining the breakdown of the charges so I think it is legit.

If you are a photography enthusiast then you will find a lot of great shots here. Don't forget to bring your DSLR. You can easily spend 3-4 hours here just to soak in the natural beauty of this place.

A lot to travel before you reach the soul taking place. Better you take some horse (if you can not track for about 2 hrs to reach this place) and have the lightest baggage with you. Just some water and good shoes.

this place takes your breath away. I did not have an opportunity to stay, but if I could, I would have taken the camps for a night. Some amazing pics, and peace.

Reach in the morning time, max by 11/12 and comeback by 4/5 (3 hrs of the track - 1.5 to 2 hrs to heights and 1 hr to come back). Food is available just before and some shops on the route. but do not be dependent :)

A good camera and a good pair of shoes is recommended. It's a little chilly so better be prepared with your jacket.

I stayed at Sari village because that's entry point of Deoria Taal. Track of Deoria taal is beautiful but little tough. on the way, there is a shiva temple.. it is so beautiful and peaceful that you feel blessed.
I reached Deoria taal at around 12 Noon. Views are beyond words. you can watch snow clad mountains for hours and never want to come back..
Simply Awesome and Heaven like feeling.

It is a short trek of 3km from last village Saari in Rudraprayag. Once should definitely visit this place for an amazing view of Chaukhamba peak and chain of mountains. Is was full of snow and beautiful short trek. I have celebrated best birthday with my family. I am highly recommending @HimalayanEcoLodgesKund for stay if you go to Chopta or Kund region of Uttarakhand.

We had planned for this trek as part of our Garhwal trip in mid Oct. We had planned to climb and return back on the same day rather than staying for one night. We reached Sari village at 9 am and started climbing up. It's a moderate climb for us doing a trek after a long time and in less than 2 hours we reached Deoria Tal. We stayed for around 1.5 hrs and then came down the same track. A great time to closely observe nature all along the track and the top. It was indeed a heavenly feeling to see the lake after a strenuous climb, where as per mythology, the Gods come for taking a bath. Possibly it would have been better to reach early as the only anguish was not to see the Chaukhamba clearly but outline amongst the clouds. it was a great experience overall.
