This place is vast and beautiful. A nice place for weekend trip with family and/or friends. I hv taken my bike and I learnt that one can cross the dam to go to deer park by taking ferry close to Pareshnath Temple. My bike had her first boat ride on water here. The place is serene and it offers a vastness to soothe our tired soul..

We, a group of 14 people, visited Mukutmonipur and stayed at WBFDC managed Sonajhuri Prokriti Bhromon Resort from 12th January 2020 to 14th January . All the lodge are situated on the hillock and very well maintained. Amloki and Haritaki has the best view of the dam . Food served at the lodge were very delicious and reasonably priced . Staff are well beheaved and always at your service .Sun set at the dam was treat to watch . Since all the lodge are situated on the hillock senior citizens may face some discomfort in reaching their respective lodge . Among the lodges Anantamul and Satamul on the first tier , Amloki and Haritaki on the second tier and Sal and Piyal on the top tier . Please visit Mukutmonipur and enjoy your peaceful stay in the midst of nature at Sonajhuri Prokriti Bhromon Resort .

Mukutmanipur Dam is a popular place for visiotrs as well as picnic parties. Situated at the Khatra subdivision of Bankura district, the dam has been built over Kangsabati river. The well-built road over the dam gives the tourist very pleasant experience.
However, to bring a four-wheeler on that road a permission is required and the office is closed on weekends. Hence, most number of tourists has to take either auto-rickshaws or boat ride to enjoy the view. Auto ride will be of 5-6km a side and will cover the mohana, Paresnath temple and Musafirana garden. If you want to visit the bonpukuria deer park, a boat ride need to be taken from mohana. Also, you can take the entire trip with the boat from the starting point of the dam as well.
We took the auto ride. Considering the beautiful view along the road the journey was pretty memorable one.
Although each of the places have their own beauties but according to me both Pareshnath Temple and Musafirana Park needed maintenance. As they are taking entry fee for the park hence the place should be properly clean and should have some proper toilet arrangements. Also proper security is required across the dam road during night. The art work at the roadside is nice but need to be looked after properly.
There are few resorts and wbfdc resort is present for night stay. However very few options available if you are opting to have food from outside. The small roadside eateries are nice but very few food options present.

This place is one of the most preferred place among the nature lovers and rightly so. The gorgeous dam on Kangsabati river situated amidst of the nature sorrounded by scattered hillock & deciduous forests exhibits the beauty of the nature.
The place is about 1.5 Hrs driving distance from Bankura Town through a well maintained & picturesque road. There is a toll booth on the entrance road to the dam and after that one has to cross a canal to reach at the base of the main dam. Parking place is available there. For driving over the 11 KM long embankment, the most memorable experience we had there, permission needs to obtain from the entry point of the dam showing the vehicle & driving licence. Tourists without vehicle may opt a ride by hired Auto as available on the embankment. The entire road is made of concrete, adequately wide and have pavement & guardwall throughout the length. There are seating arrangement at few place, where one can spent few time gazing over the sorroundings, possibly in winter time. Beside that, there is a museum on local art & crafts with adjacent children park situated on that embankment.
The condition of the dam was quiet as we saw in winter. Interested tourists can opt for a boat ride in the dam. As told, there is an island with deer park which can be approached by boat ride. We did not go for any due to time constraint as we had only a part of the day for this place; however, a stay for one or two nights at WBFDC Lodge or similar category resort would be really refreshing.
There was not many option for food except some basic food stalls. As listen, the restaurant at WBFDC Lodge provides some nice food (not sure whether they caters the outsiders), though we even couldn't try for the service due to heavy congestion on approach road.
The serenity of this place largely interrupted by the huge rush of tourists & picnic group as we saw during end of December. In my opinion, true nature lovers & people interested for a relaxed outing, better to avoid the long weekend/ winter weekend.

The road over the dam is a beautiful view, specially in the evening. You can go for a boating in the evening to enjoy the sunset over the waters of the dam. The boat ride will take you to Deer Park and Pareshnath temple.
