It was my great and relaxing visit to this lake. Lake was beautiful with clear water on the top of mountain. Great view surrounding this lake. Fully cover with trees.

A trek of almost a full day led us to reach the top of the hill where this lake is located. The trek was difficult one with steep terrain. We saw snow capped trees and hills on the way. The lake is very beautiful. Water is very fresh and clean.

One of the most amazing treks and places I have been to. Had come first time 32 yrs ago with Nehru Institute of Mountaineering and had to bring my family here to have the same experience. Pristine, untouched, Divine place. No mobiles, no electricity, only your camp site. Amazing place. The lake has the best Himalayan Trout which are a pleasure to see. The birthplace of Lord Ganesha and the temple is amazing. The temple pujari says that the lake is the confluence of 2 rivers and the water goes around a Shivlingam in the middle of the lake and flows out from the other side as the Assi Ganga River. Great trek, great place. A must visit.

Well I visited the place at the wrong time of the year and voudl not see the reflections of the chaukhamba range in the lake.. this was. A great disappointment for me. So make sure you travel the place in the right time around October end of November when the skies are clear. The lake has good ample space for camping and you can get a tent for 800 INR per night. The food available is basic and restrooms are available too.

Dodital is a mesmerizing high-altitude lake situated at approx 3,024 m/ 9,921 ft ASL. A freshwater lake, it is home to the beautiful Himalayan trout.
It can be reached by an easy trek of 22 km starting at Sangam Chatti. Camping at Agoda/ Bhebra is required. One need not carry own tent as accommodation options are available at both Agoda/ Bhebra and Dodital. From Dodital, one can further trek 5 km up to Darwa Top, which is a steep climb & bit strenuous. Darwa Top, at 4,150 m/ 13,612 ft ASL, offers stunning views of the Bandarpoonch & Swargarohini range of Himalayan peaks.
Sharing below the trek itinerary –
Day 1 - Drive from Uttarkashi to Sangam Chatti – 16 km/ 1 hr; Trek from Sangam Chatti to Bhebra - 8 km/ 3-4 hrs
Day 2 - Bhebra to Dodital - 14 km/ 6-7 hrs
Day 3 - Dodital to Darwa Top & back to Dodital – 10 km/ 6-7 hrs
Day 4 - Dodital to Bhebra – 14 km/ 4-5 hrs
Day 5 - Bhebra to Sangam Chatti – 8 km/ 2-3 hrs
Our trek was led by Mr. Dharmbeer Panwar - mountain guide at The Alpine High, based out of Uttarkashi.

Dodital Lake trek is an ideal beginners trek in the Garhwal Himalayas near Uttarkashi. Fairly well marked path lead to a beutiful lake surrounded with thick forest which very serene and beautiful place to relax. Thanks Team Renok Adventrues for the suggestion and organizing this trek for our group

Dodital lake is a beautiful and easy trek which takes you to the Darwa pass which gives good 360 degree veiws of snow capped peaks.

Suitable for beginners.
Goes through thick forest cover. So very comforting climate and beautiful views.
If you crave a little adventure, take the steep hike to Darawa Top from Dodital.
Dodital is a sacred place for locals. So it can get quite noisy during festival days with bhajans being played on loudspeakers. So first inquire about the festival days and try to avoid them.
All in all, the best option if you want to start trekking in the Himalayas. Moderately cold nights, great sunny days!!

Amazing place to trek, lush green forest some of the rare Himalayan birds like Monal, Koklas and various other pheasants.

the car goes only to the base point and then it is a steep climb of 2.5kms to reach the lake. ponies are available if you interested in takibg your folks to the lake. But the climb is strenuous.

Yes you can visit Dodital in april but you will not able to cross Darwa pass due to the amount of snow
