Our one-night stay at Mahodand Lake in Matiltan, Swat, was an unforgettable escape into nature's tranquility. Accompanied by two friends, we embarked on a journey that promised serenity and adventure in equal measure.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the breathtaking beauty of Mahodand Lake, its crystal-clear waters mirroring the surrounding lush greenery. The sight alone was enough to rejuvenate our spirits and wash away the weariness of travel.
Our accommodation for the night was a cozy tent pitched on the lakeside, offering uninterrupted views of the tranquil waters and the majestic mountains beyond. Despite the rustic setting, the tent provided all the necessary comforts for a peaceful night's rest.
One of the highlights of our trip was the boating experience on Mahodand Lake. Drifting along the calm waters, surrounded by towering peaks and verdant forests, was nothing short of magical. It offered a unique perspective of the landscape, allowing us to fully appreciate the pristine beauty of our surroundings.
Another memorable experience was indulging in freshly caught trout fish, prepared by the local vendors. The fish, cooked to perfection over an open fire, was a delicious culinary delight that showcased the flavors of the region.

Mahodand lake is one of the main attractions in kalam. It's about 3 hrs jeep ride which takes quite a toll on your body.
You can do horse riding and boating there. Do compare prices before you book one.
Food and beverages are available there but limited options.
Just 5km further there is an other lake Saif ullah lake. Nice place to spend some time

It is located about 2.5 hous jeep drive from Kalam. You have to hire jeep from Kalam Bazar and start early like 7:00 am to enjoy this place. There is a centeral island forest surronded by the lake. There are motor boats available for the ride at a very reasonable rate. The food quality is not good there so better to bring your own eatables. The influx of large number of visitors have desteroyed its beauty.There is so much deforstation all around. The indian wash rooms are available but mostly on payment. The best plan to visit here is to reach at 9:30 am , take a boat ride and spend some time in the island and then travel to the nearby Saifaullah lake which is about 10-15 minutes drive from there and a worth place to spend more tome. There is a beautiful waterfall there also.

Excellent experience visiting mahodand lake but this visit makes me sad because of trash in every area of lake.

Mahodand Lake near Ushu is 2hr Jeep drive from Kalam. It look more delightful to see with snow. It has ushu river flowing. Beautiful sceneries of mountains and river.

A jeep track of about 3 hours from Kalam. The first destination of this tour was the Ushu Forest. Almost 4 KM of road in between the forests presenting the views we dream to be at while watching those Romantic Movies. From there we headed to a small village Matiltan after which the Mahodand Lake road starts. We kept on moving on the Jeep track with ushu river flowing on our left side throughout the journey. In the way are the beautiful Mighty 22 Falls. The picture doesn’t tell how beautiful this place was. Reached Mahodand Lake at about 2:30 Pm. The place was Lush green with a lot of Horses and Cows. #Nature The wind was cool in-fact we had to wear our Thin jackets even at that hour. We enjoyed the lake covered with Mountains from all ends for 2 hours.
