Nice Panoramic View and a Couple of Easy Hikes
avr. 2021
At the end of one of the days we were at Capitol Reef National Park, we went to the Panorama and Sunset Points. They are on a side road, near the entrance to the park. Here you get a huge panoramic overview of the area. It is really beautiful. The sunset wasn’t amazing the day we went there, but it did light up the red rocks very nicely. There is a nice walk at Sunset Point, at the end of the road that was relaxing and enjoyable. The changing light was interesting and beautiful for photography.

Great hike, even if you are not there at sunset

The red rocks at the top are amazing, especially to see how they are stacked together. They look like they could fall at any minute. The views from this overlook are breathtaking! Nice hike up from the parking lot...just .4 mile one way.

Short hike with nice views

My wife and I took this short hike just prior to sunset one evening during our visit to Capitol Reef NP and were rewarded with wonderful views of the park.

Just a short hike - up the hill from the parking area to the viewpoint. Obviously best at sunset. Main attraction is the red rock formations to the east, not the sunset itself. Go there about 15 minutes before sunset and left after sun went down. No clouds so not much of a sunset but the red rocks did turn an impressive shade of red.

Great way to wrap up your day!

We hiked the short Sunset Point Trail for sunset. The sky wasn't "explosive"the evening we made the trek, but it was still an amazing place with the sunlight bouncing all over the landscape.

This is for all ages and abilities. Make sure you enjoy an evening here.

Beautiful trail for all fitness levels
mai 2019
From the parking lot, it is probably less than a mile round trip with very little elevation change. A must do for all ages to soak in the vast beauty of Capital Reef National Park. The small parking lot can be a little crowded, but it seems fine for cars to park along the road. Try to get there at least 30 minutes before sunset and stay a bit after. Remember the show and thus most beautiful landscapes are mostly to the east, where the setting sun reflects on the mountains and various layers of rocks.

Hard to find but so worth the 1/2 mile easy hike
avr. 2019 • En famille
This trail is not marked on how to get there. Turn at the Panorama Point turn off. Go to the top of the hill. Take the dirt/gravel road that will have a sign - Goosenecks. Goosenecks Trail and Sunset Point Trail are at the end of the dirt road. Both trails are great. Sunset is the best offering spectular views of Capitol Reef. We didn't walk all the way out on Googenecks Trail as winds were gusting at 50mph and could easily blow over the cliff - but views from here are great. Sunset trail is only 1/2 mile out and very easy walking conditions

Terrific sunsets every single night from right here.

We had not planned to go here to see the sunset but we enjoyed the sunrise so much we was discussing it at our motel. The people working had talked us into coming here to see the sunset and WOW are we ever glad we did too. Beautiful and was in total awe. You have got to go catch a sunset on this point if you have not done it yet. You won't regret it.
