The time spent in the mineral bath was enjoyable. My wife said after using the bath her knee no longer hurts so for that alone the trip was worth it.
My compliments to the chef and wait staff. We had a wonderful meal and found the service excellent.

After driving on long poorly marked roadway we finally found the Milk River Mineral Bath. The Milk River Hotel and Spa building are old and run down and the staff are somewhat friendly. Please do your and family a favor don't books a stay here its a half star at best.. The spa wasn't a spa at all the tubs are old and poorly maintained. The tiles were broke causing a safety hazard if you're not careful. Don't waste you time and gas money driving here. Milk River Bath can a great location if some major changes are made to accommodate guest. I visited the bath during Covid we expected more protocol to ensure the safety of the guest. If I would have know that the guest are not required to shower before entering the spa I differently would've made that terrible trip over those harsh roadway.

It's a long drive from Kingston, especially once you leave the A2 highway. We opted for the route from Osborne Store because it was the shortest which is all relative. There are few signs showing you where to go, thanks for Google. This route involves multiple turns and until we were almost there where we saw the first sign.

This is my third visit to Milk River, the first when I was around 7 years old and another 12 years ago where we only walked along the river until an approaching crocodile chased us away (there was a sign in the parking lot warning you of crocodiles. On arrival, the small parking area was somewhat full. There is a small elevator for customers who cannot climb the 30 somewhat steep stairs. In the lobby, we were greeted and given the price for a 15 minute soak and opted for 30 minutes. We were directed down to the baths, 9 individual baths, 3 which were under repair. Two baths were available, so two members of our party had to wait.

The baths themselves were okay, clean with some signs of wear on the steps into the pool and on the railings. What struck me was the lack of smell when compared to the St Thomas Baths which had a strong Sulphur smell and was significantly warmer. The water was cool when you first step in but warms up nicely. The water was actually clear like your own bath. I was concerned about the efficacy of the bath due to the lack of smell and initial coolness. The water is very slightly salty if you want to test it. It helped my mosquito bites but did nothing significantly for my arthritic knees and sciatic back. More than likely I needed more than a half hour.

After leaving the bath, I went to the bathroom to change and discovered a shower where I was able to rinse off, but there were a lot of mosquitoes to attack before I could put on my repellant. To note, there was no water in the sink.

We opted not to eat, as it would have 30-45 minutes for them to cook our meals. A group was there complaining that after 40 minutes their meals were not ready and their space in line for the baths had been given away.

Our return trip home was quite by accident through Toll Gate which is a more or less straight road and in much better condition. we went to the slight left instead of making a right turn.

Overall not disappointing but needs a lot of work, which is being carried out in stages. The work is evident in the front of the main building and the reception area. There is a pool, a little way down the road, maybe 50 feet which is what I remember from my first visit. It is available for large parties according to the brochure. No more crocs, vegetation has covered the banks of the river which makes it difficult for them to come ashore in the parking lot. The receptionist said she had never seen them but older employees have spoken of those days.

Totally disappointed I can’t begin to describe how horrible the bath was. Until they renovate and upgrade don’t waste your time.

It is a very long never ending road journey through the countryside to get to Milk River Bath. Depending on where you are coming from this trip could be very energy draining..I strongly suggest using the Toll road for an easier journey..
Signage to get there is lacking and far & few between.. so most of the journey you may think you are going the wrong way until many miles later you see an obscure sign with a little arrow pointing the way ahead! Upon arrival the Guard greets you showing you the stairs to climb to make your payment before going to the bath area.
If you are unwell or elderly with knee problems you may be unable to climb the stairs! Maybe if this is the case a member of Staff will offer to assist!
There are different Bath & Lunch & Couples options so depending on your pocket & the time you have you can decide which option best suits you!
The actual bathing areas are somewhat like the size of an average bathroom with closed doors and hand rails & steps leading you in a square tiled bath area filled with the warmish mineral water where you will just slowly sit & soak & relax !
Individual , private or group bathing options are offered.
There is much history & science regarding the minerals & magical healing powers of the Milk River Bath waters..so a good 30 mins soaking is deemed highly beneficial!
We had the chicken with rice & peas lunch on the premises which was tasty!
The upstairs Office & Restaurant seems recently renewed but other parts of the building is outdated and needs refurbishing including the rusty bath railings!
There are Rooms on the premises for overnight stay but there is not an obvious strong security presence and the location seems a little lonely so we were not interested to stay over!
I want to believe in the magical minerals @ Milk River because since my mineral
(40 mins) soaking many days ago , I have not felt my arthritic hip or knees acting up! As the saying goes.."Belief will cure everything' and If the Milk River mineral waters really offer magical healing as reported & suggested then long live Milk River!!

So on the advice of my Uncle I was told to come here to experience the rejuvenating mineral baths with female company (wink wink)... so I picked up my date one early morning and headed out in the car... after coming off the toll road, and following the signs along the way we found ourselves along a long country road that seemed to go on forever.. we made several wrong turns before we found ourselves at the Mineral Baths set against a lush green hill deep in the countryside.

After going upstairs to the reception and waiting for an older couple to finish their transaction, we enquired about the various options eventually opting for the lunchtime special with an upgraded meal option. After paying the fee, in Jamaican dollars, and prompting the cashier to correct my change by the $400 he shorted me (definitely seemed intentional) we descended downstairs to the baths.

We was shown to a private bathing cubicle and was pretty disappointed with the condition of the place, the railings were very rusty and the overall state of the place was rather shabby. But, not wanting to waste any of our allotted time I quickly undressed and descended into the baths and made myself comfortable. I had heard that the water was nearly scalding hot by my Uncle but it was actually luke warm - I was relieved but disappointed at the same time.

I was also expecting a little more buoyancy.. but since I'm carrying a bit of extra weight I felt fairly planted in the water. My rather lithe lady friend slid in right on top of me and immediately floated... guess the buoyancy of the mineral waters coped better with her slender figure. So we enjoyed the water and each others company (but not as much as the next cubicle by the sound if it).. and twenty minutes or so we was interrupted by a loud knock on the door informing us that our time was up.

After getting dressed we headed back upstairs for our lunch.... both of us had the escovitch fish which was good. I did notice some hotel rooms along a corridor but they didn't seem that enticing... don't think I would be tempted to spend any more time here.

Well what did we think of the place? I can't vouch for the magical healing properties of the mineral water, as the mosquito bites that healed up over the next few days were only replaced by new ones.. but we both enjoyed the experience but the place could definitely use some work. I do plan to return, my father wishes to see if it helps his ailing knee...

I visited Milk River Spa back in 2009 and found it to be a very pleasant stay. At the time, the rooms were dated, but clean and comfortable and the on-prem restaurant served very nice meals. I think I was the only person staying there that night. The baths were pretty awesome and the surrounding area was picturesque.

If you are looking for a quiet getaway for a night, this place fits the bill. :-)

The hotel is located two miles from the beach,in the south end of the Vere plain. The surrounding area is extremely dry with cacti and dry bush vegitation. The Milk is across the road from the hotel.
The hotel consists of a cluster of old buildings at present undergoing modernization. The bedrooms are basic , clean with a/c. The bath area and restaurant have been upgraded. The general maintenance needs attention and the TV in the dining room is annoying when dining.
The staff are friendly and the rates are very reasonable.

We drove a day trip to explore the area from Treasure Beach to the Milk Mineral Baths. We also stopped at Alligator Hold to look for manatees. The Spa was nice, just a little "aged." Friendly people. Visitors get a private "bath house" to dip into the spa. It was only a couple of american dollars for a 15 minute (but I don't think the timer really worked so it was really like 30 minutes) It was a fun little adventure for our family.

I was really displeased with the condition of the bath that I went into on my last visit which was on Friday, 6th August 2015. The rails were quite rusty, in need of paint. Apparently the bath had not been cleaned that morning as there a number of dried guinep seeds and husk in the bath and around the edges. It was quite disconcerting. The water was okay but the appearance as described was a major turn off.
