This was the trail we took while on St John's island. We wanted to do a bit of hiking and this trail goes about a mile with a couple of great lookout points. It takes you to Solomon or Honeymoon beach. We took it to Solomon.

Relaxing hike in the woods with some much-appreciated shade on a very hot day. It went down to Honeymoon and Solomon Beaches, where the water was stunningly turquoise and the views were spectacular. No amenities at the beaches, so pack in and pack out anything you want to use there. There are bathrooms at the trail head at the USVI visitor center.

We started early, parking at the National Park Service office in Cruz Bay. Yes, the trail is rocky, so we wore closed toed shoes. I was glad to have my hiking poles, but they are not necessary. We opted not to carry our snorkel gear or swim, but did bring plenty of water. Right after we turned onto the Upper trail, we were greeted by two sweet donkeys. We definitely did not feed them, but did take a couple of photos. Our first stop was Honeymoon Beach. We chatted with one friendly man from the the Caneel Beach Club who welcomed us and explained that we could buy food and drinks as well as pay for a shuttle ride back up to the road if we liked. The beach was lovely and there were chairs for rent, as well as nice facilities. We opted to hike back to our car via the lower trail, with a stop at Solomon Beach. This beach was smaller, but lovely. The roundtrip, taking our time and with stops at the beaches, probably took us 1 1/2 hours.

Definitely a moderate hike for the 6 of us due to the conditions of the trail. We stuck with the lower trail as a result. Hills not to bad, but the amount of slightly larger loose rocks and exposed roots meant you had to pay attention and sometimes pick your path. Probably took us about 30+ mins for the 1.3 mile walk to Honeymoon Beach.

While there are no facilities there, however it is directly adjacent to the Caneel Bay Club and signage indicates they may allow day passes. In fact, their beach service person did walk across the public section offering food and drink services. I suspect it depends on how many guests they have.

Beach and water very nice. Steep drop off when you enter water.

Visited this trail on 1.15.2023. The lower part of the trail is relatively easy, however, recommend wearing an appropriate shoe for the journey, especially if you plan to explore the upper part of the trail whether you ascend or descend; it is rocky and can be slippery. Encourage hikers to stop at Honeymoon Beach and hang out for a bit; beach, view and water were amazing after the hike. We were able to use the restrooms at the visitor center at the head of the trail after the hike to change out of our bathing suits into dry clothes and spend the remainder of the day in town. Time spent can vary from about an hour if you conquer the whole loop to longer if you taken pictures and visit a beach, noting a hiker can also reach Salomon Beach from this trail as well.

This is a great trail to take you to Honeymoon beach. Moderate hike but well worth the walk to one of the best beaches on the island

This is a great trail hike to honeymoon beach. We started at USVI park office. We parked along the side of the road and hiked down. The trail is rocky and has many roots so wear proper footwear. The trail is uphill on the way back and we were glad we were not in flip flops. Beautiful and mostly shaded. Honeymoon beach was well worth the hike. It was beautiful and not very busy. That being said, we were told there was food and rentals there and they were closed on the day we visited. Pack food and drinks. The view is worth it.

This is the short (.3) mile hike that will take you down to Honeymoon Beach. Parking can be a little tough (currently half the parking lot is take up with construction)-- we had to park on the side of the road which took a minute to maneuver. We had not originally planned to go to Honeymoon, so our footwear was flip flops. We were able to traverse the path okay, but it might have been a little better had we had closed toed shoes. The hike to the beach is pretty much all down hill and there are some rocks and roots to look out for. The way back, of course, is pretty much all up hill, Not bad, but older guests or young kids might have trouble.

Short, easy hike to the beach. Within walking distance of the people ferry in St John and close to all the shops and restaurants too. We took the trail to Solomon Bay which was an awesome little area. Minimal shade on the trail mid-day, but more in the morning and after 2.
