Had a great time in Mazatlan. I felt very safe. Transit was easy to use. Met a lot of Canadians that come often. The weather was cooler than other places I have been in February in Mexico but it allowed for lots of walking and exploring.

Best prices for souvenirs compared to any port in Mexico. You must barter do not accept the first offer. Take 70 percent off from the first offer and start from there. Once the offer is at 50 percent walk away and go browse other stores. They will drop the price. Dont be afraid to leave and come back later

The Mercado Pino Suarez is the main open-air market in old town Mazatlan. Easy to get there as many bus lines pass by the front or back of the market. One of the market has a number of meat vendors who have everything you might want (and probably a few things you don't, like whole pig's heads). It helps if you know how to ask for what you want at the meat market in Spanish, but many of the vendors speak some English. On the other side of the market are the fruit and vegetable sellers. I've become friends with one, and she helps me select the best produce I've ever had. I ask her for a sweet melon and she picks one which is invariably wonderful. The celery from the market is amazing--fresh and crisp! Some of the things are things I've never eaten before, but still great. There is an area of spice sellers where you can get any type of pepper from mild pasilla peppers to really spicy pequin peppers and everything in between. Fun place to shop!

This is the best place in the world to go for leather belts. Went there 10 years ago and purchased belts. They were the best I have ever had. Went back this year and the two vendors who sell them were still there with the same quality products at rock bottom prices. Stocked up for the next ten years! Lot's of other vendors for those in search of other values but many of them food related.

This Market is a square city block. There are rows and rows of venders with narrow aisles. They have everything from food to clothing, all kinds of crafts with some unique stuff as well as the usual stuff. It is an experience that we like to have once on our holiday. There is nothing we really needed since were were staying at an all inclusive resort. We spent about 45 minutes looking around and then went on to other things. It is right downtown in the historic center.

First to be said is this market has upgraded so much in the last 10 years . Meats are quality, fresh, and safe for consumption. There is everything a tourist may want to buy and at much better price than the Tourist Traps.

is the Suarez Market a good place to eat lunch while in Mazatlan on a cruise ship?
Rédigé le 7 novembre 2023
We recently visited Cancun and went to Mercado 28 (I believe) it was downtown. The vendors were so obnoxious I couldn't even shop on my own and it was impossible to even think the sales staff was so pushy...I would have probably bought way more items if they would have just backed off and let.me shop.
How does this market compare?

How far is it from the Cruise terminal. How can I get there
Rédigé le 26 mars 2016
To ride you can hop a pulmonia (local golf cart transports) right outside the terminal and they can take you right there for about $50-$60 pesos (or about $3 usd). To walk you can follow the "blue line" to the plazuela machado (a lovely stop) and get directions to the mercado from there from the tourist volunteers. It's about a little over 1/2 of a mile. You can get a plumonia or a taxi from the plazuela to the mercardo for about $30-$40 pesos (or about $2 usd) to take you the rest of the way. The mercado is just past the cathedral and main plaza. a great trip walking or riding. enjoy!
