Below are our experiences in Siguniang Mountain, which was located within the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture.

We were at the ticket center of Siguniang Mountain on 16 April, 2021. We were told that tickets are sold only through an app for the reason of Corona (which was said to be under control throughout the entire country). With this app, we cannot buy a ticket with a PASSPORT (please refer to the attached photo for specific indication of "YOU FOREIGNERS are not allowed to buy a ticket").
Several personnels (they do not sell tickets but help people for using the app) informed us that the entire Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture do not sell tickets to people with a passport (i.e., non-Chinese).

At the night of staying in Siguniang region, after we checked-in in the hotel and went to a restaurant. All of a sudden, medical team was sent to the restaurant, the staffs were looking at us eating while the ambulance was parked right in front of the restaurant. They took pictures of my husband's passport and multiple documents (including his visa, proof of quarantine when entering China, and results of early corona tests). We were given only one reason for this kind of extra control action: my husband holds a non-Chinese passport.

End of story about Mt. Siguniang.
We will recommend people with an interest for Western Sichuan to go to Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, which has a much friendlier policy towards non-Chinese hikers. And the view, for some Chinese, is prettier than the view in Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture.

The nature in this National Reserve is beautiful, but we were totally dissapointed of the way, that it is presented. As we are experienced travellers and hikers, we wanted to hike into two less commercial and accesable valleys, and as there is a bus road and restaurants in the Shuangqiaogou, we have chosen to go to Changping valley and then to Haizigou valley where we also wanted to spend two nights in the tent. At the ticket office center we have found out, that in that case we must buy special tourist ticket and also a guide, who has to go with us. Another dissapointing information was, that there are no english speaking guide, so we would be just controlled and wouldnt get any interesting information from the guide. We decided to go primary into Changping valley for one day ticket without guide and our stuff, because they wouldnt allow us to go into the park with our camping equipment without the guide. After what we saw in the valley, we were totally dissapointed and going into the valley with guide was totally unacceptable for us. There is a wooden path in the majority of the valley and where it isnt already, there is a construction of it. So any romantic or magical place of this valley is totally destroyed, as you can see in the photos. After around 10 km of walk we have met some woman in high-heels, which was so ironic to imagine, that we would have gone there with some tourist guide. No, thanks. This is not the place for hikers and nature lovers.

Most scenic valley among the three valleys name as Shuangqiao, Changping and Haizi. Never been difficult hike as there is bus shuttle service. Just take bus till the last stop and slowly walk down enjoying the most amaze and breathtaking views of snow capped mountains, crystals clear lakes and rivers and rich forestry surrounding.

The hike to this valley (not the summit) is not difficult. There are a lot of horses and yak worthy of photo shoot.

I spent a day and a half traveling through 2 of the 3 valleys and I wish I had more time to do the 3rd. It was as beautiful as I hoped and the air was crisp and fresh, drastic change to Chengdu's grey skies. Hope to go back.
There are shuttle services in 2 of the valleys, you can hire horses, rafting and do an overnight camping trip.

I visited here as part of a 32-day solo holiday with China Private Tours.
I visited Siguniang as an alternative when Jiuzhaigou was devastated by an earthquake. It’s a 5 hour drive from Chengdu. I was promised a snow peaked mountain and as we drove into the ranges all I could see were craggy rocky peaks but no snow. Being October, I was wondering where the snow was going to come from. I was getting more sceptical as we drove closer to the destination and then came the wow moment. Turning around an innocuous corner, suddenly before me was Siguniang itself, with snow! Very impressive. We stopped at the lookout for photos but I mention this as there are food stalls there and the chicken and potato skewers are delicious. The actual nature reserve is a way further and like many tourist attractions in China, this is a shuttle in and out. My guide took me to the end of the road first, the highest point, where people are warned about the thin air. This is as close as you get to the mountain but the views are beautiful. This park is well planned. At all the shuttle stops there are different views with the mountain as the backdrop – it’s quite clever really. It was also a lovely clear day when I was there (not a regular occurrence on my journeys), though it was raining when we left Chengdu. It ended as one of the best days of my time in China, even though the autumn colours didn’t happen for me. The park wasn’t crowded, walking was easy, it was so peaceful and the mountain lived up to the promise. One slight warning – though I didn’t have any thin air issues at the lookout, I did get a massive height-induced headache coming back down in the shuttle. It may not happen to everyone but be aware it’s possible. That night I stayed at a hotel in the local town which can’t be reviewed on Trip Advisor. Hotels here are not flash at all. The one I was in was built overhanging a cliff, which while it made the view from the room spectacular, considering this is an earthquake zone, I’m not sure of the wisdom of this construction style!

A good place for visiting & trekking!
Easy to go from chengdu to this place , we visited at mid April , we called to hostel then they arranged car to pick up, one person about RMB200, it cheap, may share a car with others , 7seats car, comfortable and no need take bus! Short the travel timing, about 4hours arrive there, and driver is a good man and stop some place for take photo, but remember that no stop for lunch, pls have breakfast before start the journey!

Stayed there for 2night, if you have more time may stay 3-4days for more relaxing
MT Siguniang, 1st day arrived about 1pm, then we visited 双桥沟"Shuangqiaogou" , this is a easy place for visiting, took the bus then it stop each area , Easy for visit and suitable for elder , however due to it in mountain area 3200m, we must let ourselves not be too tired and cannot get flu, warm protect are important!

So you will have plenty of options in this valley. Haizi valley is one of the three valleys/parks at Mount Siguniang. You can do a 2-3 hour hiking in the park just to the mountain ridge to see the great views of Mount Siguniang itself. Or you can have a multi-day trekking to the summit of Dafeng or Erfeng of Mount Siguniang.
The 2-3 hour walking is not very strenuous but rather enjoyable starting from the entrance by the parking lot and walk on boardwalks to but the ticket and walk on the horse trail. It is a pleaseant walking in a good day. Altitude is below 3400 meters.
To do the summit of Dafeng, you need to walk for 6-7 hours to the base camp of Dafeng which is located at the elevation of 4300 meters. And then make the summit to 5000 meteres the next day. They have huts with basic bunks at the base camp now, 100 yuan per person. Although you can camp as well.
A good time to travel to this place is between April to the next January. it has heavy snow/ or accumulated lots of snow by Feb and March every year basically.

It took 6 hours by bus to reach Siguniangshan from Chádiànzi long distance bus station in Chengdu. The journey there was very enjoyable as it goes over a 4200 metre mountain pass with fantastic views. Siguniangshan has three main valleys all within easy reach from Siguniangshan town. (Formerly Rilong) The Changping Valley starts from the town. The Haizi Valley is just 500 metres away. 7 kilometres down the road is the Shuangqiao Valley. I did two of the valleys with my family. Saw huge mountains, ice waterfalls, yaks, pine forest and so on. Be sure to take altitude medicine and drink plenty of water as it is quite dry up there. We had medicine and were good until we ran out on the final night and got a massive headache. Also beware of the swindlers who try to take you to your hotel when the bus drops you off. They wanted 100 Yuan for what turned out to be a 500 metre walk to the hotel. The town is small enough to get to most hotels by foot.
