Near the parking area, there is a picnic area with barbeque and when you walk into the park there is a big building, Alfred H. Savage Centre with restroom. The Grandview stairs is quite high. The trail begins affter crossing the small creek. This park is located near Quesnel Bridge over the North Saskatchewan River.

I live in Edmonton so I like to visit this park whenever I feel like going away from the chaotic life. It has a nice water-side site where you can enjoy the beautiful nature. It has stairs as well as easy trails to walk. You can enjoy your cardio climbing those stairs or walking through the trails.

This is by farther best nature area in Edmonton. A beautiful, easy to walk trail stretches all the way from Hodgson to Fox Drive and the North Saskatchewan River. With the exception of Rainbow Valley, where Snow Valley skiing is located, you don't even notice you are in the middle of the city. Nothing but forests of deciduous trees and pines, but the landscape varies quite a bit, so it is not a boring walk at all. Frequently, especially close to dusk, animals can be spotted along the path. A couple of bridges span over Whitemud Creek, which provides a tranquil background. The most beautiful spot is the bench located on the spur towards Westbrook. The path is also nice during winter, but can be icy at times.

We parked on the side of the no exit road on 53 Avenue and 141 Street. There is enough space for a few vehicles right next to the trailhead. The trail takes you down into the ravine and North for 0.5km until you can cross the creek. Then you head South along the creek for several km in the trees past Snow Valley ski hill with nice view points and benches along the way.

The chickadees will eat out of your hand if you bring seeds, but go early in the day as they have lots of other food sources. The squirrels might as well. We saw lots of coyote and rabbit tracks along the semi frozen water. There was an entertaining battle between an owl, a raven, and 4 magpies for whatever meal the owl had control of and was holding in it's talons. If it weren't for all the noise they were making, we probably would have missed seeing the owl.

There are many well constructed bridges along the trail and many side trails to choose from. There was very little elevation change once you were in the ravine. It would be a bit of work to get back out of the ravine if you are not used to such inclines.

Great place for a dog walk. Nice wide trail, but with a cozy forest feel. Could be icy at times I'd imagine. It got busy in the afternoon on our way back to the truck. This walk compares with the dozen or so other excellent trails in Edmonton's river valley.

It was a boring place to visit and we spent little time there. Would have been good if there was anything to do there or more to see. Still, nice to see nature.

Lovely area in Edmonton that is tucked away from the city. Enjoy long or short walks through the ravine where you will be surrounded by wildlife. Great for all ages and abilities.

I would say this is one of the best I visited in Edmonton so far. I love the forest, the streams, birds and squirrels sometimes coyotes.

My favorite place in all of Edmonton to walk. Beautiful this time of year (Autumn) as the leaves are so many colors and literally falling at your feet as you walk. Very serene. Great place to walk and think.

Whitemud park is located in the south part of the city and goes for several kilometers eventually emptying into the North Saskatchewan river. The creek is still flowing and has many beaver dams and foot bridges to watch these wonderful creatures at work. The walk paths are very well maintained and provide city dwellers a chance to experience the great outdoors while not even leaving the city. The bird watching is great and dogs just love the chance to get off the pavement. its a great way to get some exercise, fresh air and feel you are miles from civilization.
