As the title would suggest I have mixed feelings about animal enclosures. Beacon Hill Park is free, the "Farm" is not. Small birds, pigs, alpacas (not in large numbers) are displayed and cared for by friendly staff. The big attraction is several dozen goats who can be stroked and brushed as long as you/they wish. Awesome for little kids and seniors. I wouldn't suggest the area be disney-fied but it needs work; more animals, updated signage, a modern vision. Otherwise people, like me, may keep getting a sad feeling.

This place used to be great but we went today and were shamed for not paying the donation, which has never been an issue in the past. We pay when we can and don't when we can't. That's how it's always been there.
They were then very rude to us today and even made one of my kids cry! Looking back at the three incidents they had with us it's actually outrageous how poorly we were treated by staff at a petting zoo. None of us did a thing wrong and they were just repeatedly rude.
We won't be back. Look out if you're poor + assuming the optional donation really is optional. They will find a way to make you pay with your dignity because the staff were nasty there today! We used to love it when my kids were toddlers, but today my kids cried and said it's a scary place. We won't be back.

This farm is so cute, it has actually so many farm animals, the goats and pigs are such a highlight. It is donation based, but there is a recommended donation that’s written on the board at the front. It is worth it because of the awesome interactions especially with the tiny goats, you can go in their enclosure and give them some cuddles! We only stumbled across this and we were happy we did.

You could look from outside as the fence allows good views. But if you want to get close up & pet/brush/coo with the 1 week old goats, it is worth a stop. We also enjoyed observing the other animals (mini donkeys, alpacas, mini pigs, Guinea pigs, peacocks, pheasant, etc). The ducks you can see in the park for free; it’s the goats that are the star attraction.

Arrive excited to take grandkids to see the goats. Abrasive staff blocked the entrance, starting into a bunch of covid questions, then told everyone outdoor masks were mandatory. Staff member was rude, confrontational and no respect in front of little kids. Who ever funds this debacle, especially with the big push for tourism to return, this needs an audit and a refresh. This is not the time for complacency, rudeness and unrealistic health requirements, especially in out door distanced environment.

As Canada emerges from the pandemic and emergency health orders are rescinded, Beacon Hill Children's Farm continues to follow health guidelines from January 2021. Visitors are not allowed to go inside any of the buildings to view the animals. And if you're dreaming of playing with the goats in the pen, forget it. You must remain outside the fence. Masks required. Save yourself the donation and enjoy the animals from outside the chainlink fence for free, like Victorians have been doing since March 2020.

Such a cute spot. Friendly staff and adorable animals. The goats are a great attraction and would recommend watching the goat stampede !

Even the adults enjoy petting the baby goats. You must be there at around 5pm for the running of the goats! It is by donation for entrance.

This isn't just for children, but for anybody interested in seeing a number of animals who, for the most part, are found on farms. They include goats, sheep, bunnies, all different kinds of chickens (some of them are amazing looking creatrues), peacocks, potbellied pigs, miniature horses, and many others, and they have valuable and interesting information. about each one. The children's petting zoo is only part of it.

Where is the Beacon Hill Children's farm? Specifically, in which part of the Beacon Hill Park?

If you go in any entrance, you pass by it eventually (I think). Closest entrance is on Douglas, over by the drive in restaurant. You could google it and I'm sure there will be more specific directions. Great park, and I'm sure it's beautiful right now. Bring something for the ducks and peacocks and fish.
