Peaceful place, Guru Nanak devji was born here. I agree with Parambir Kaur regarding toilets. They need to do something about them in all the gurdwaras there. That would be “Seva” but at the moment there are too many “hangers on” who are just to make money in the name of God.
Similarly the toilets at Dera Sacha Sauda gurdwara were the worst, there were some mosquito-type flies in all the toilets, just disgusting and one has to persevere as it’s a long drive back to your hotels. Millions of Sikhs visit these gurdwaras and contribute so much money but everybody should stop, our gurus never asked to do “mutha tek” with money.
Hats off to the Pakistan government and the people’s hospitality is second to none but it’s the people who are looking after the gurdwaras that are to be blamed, they are only touting for money.

I loved the shrine and the beautiful surroundings as well as the Katha told by the Giani. However the toilets were utterly disgusting and I made a formal complaint to a guard who is responsible for taking care of the facilities. He blamed the Christian cleaners who were on leave for Easter!! I told him that he was passing the buck rather than taking responsibility. Sikhs go there in their millions and give money to everyone and they can't even provide Bazic facilities!! !Shame on them.
Another thing that really is annoying is that in every Gurudwara there are people begging for bakshish despite being on paid employment!! Shameful behaviour!! I have to add that none of these people were Sikhs.

(Gurdwara Birth Place of Guru Nanak Dev ji) Nankana Sahib is a holy place where the founder of Sikh religion, the dispeller of darkness, the most enlightened global Guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji was born early in the morning to Mata Tripta Ji and Mehta Kalu Ji on 15th April, 1469 (Baisakh sudi 3, Samwat 1526).

Nankana Sahib (Urdu and Punjabi: ننكانہ صاحِب) is a city and capital of Nankana Sahib District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is named after the first Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Nanak, who was born in the city and first began preaching here. Today it is a city of high historic and religious value and a popular pilgrimage site for Sikhs from all over the world. It is located about 91 km west of Lahore and about 75 km (47 mi) east of Faisalabad.
The Government of Pakistan plans to construct a 100 acres (40 ha) university as well as hospitals and health care facilities by the district government with mutual interest of local communities and family of Rai Bular.
While we were visiting there; the work was going on at a very fast pace; the current prime minister Mr. Imran Khan is doing a superb job.
