Kapita Dicang certainly looks like a Filipina who knew how to live a glorious life during the early part of the 19th century. This house were she reared 17 siblings is a wonderful testament to that period, when our country was still under American rule. A worthy museum. Must see when in Negros Occidental.

This is definitely one of the well-preserved ancestral houses in Negros Occidental. This was built in 1872 and is located in Talisay. It is a silent witness to important events in local history (including wars and revolutions).
The house is a typical example of the so-called "bahay na bato" that has a stone basement or ground floor and wooden upper floor. It's got 18 rooms (mostly bedrooms). It also has very elegant living and dining rooms. Its collection of antique furniture and decors is admirable.
Located just a few minutes' drive from Bacolod City, this is one ancestral house really worth-visiting. Before doing so, try to call them up first to check if the house is open and to book a guided tour. Highly recommended!

멋있습니다. 유럽 거리나 건축물이 멋있는 이유는 아무래도 오래 보존되는 멋이 있어서라고 생각하는데 이곳도 그러한 멋이 있습니다.

Don't miss out visiting this place! If you want to take a look at how the elite used to live. It's very accessible from Bacolod. The last time I went there, the entrance fee is at ₱ 100.00.

We visited this during our first visit but this time, we had an excellent guide who introduced Tana Dicang, a very powerful politician and matriarch during the Philippines Commonwealth era. She hosted President Manuel Quezon and Serio Osmeña and photos of her sitting in the middle of these 2 figures of Phil history wearing baro't saya and sunglasses (she had cataract) is quite telling of her power. She was sought after because she owned sugarlands and haciendas and politicians sought her for much needed campaign funds. She even has a rattan chair carried by 2 men whenever she toured her hacienda in stealth mode. A horse drawn caretela can be heard and w/ this chair she can oversee and check who are slackers in the fields. What a woman! The house is grand and has 18 rooms for Tana Dicangs family of 18 children (1 is an adopted child from the Alunan family). Most of the original furniture of the house is intact and the family continues to take care of the house and the collection. This is a must-see heritage house and the story of Tana (short for Kapitana) Dicang gives one a glimpse of the Commonwealth era and the political players of that time.

The house is now a museum. Entrance fee is 100 pesos. The house is open until 5pm except on sunday and holiday. The house is 142 years old already. The furnitures are well preserved. On the outside, you will see a big old house with 18 rooms (if i remember it right). A lot o rooms for a lot of her children (16 plus 1 adopted if i correctly remember). Pictures of Tana Dicang and various dignitaries are hanging around.
Interesting to see a different era. Good historical value.

I can surely say that Balay ni Tana Dicang has some deep history. Once you enter the house, you can really feel an eerie feeling. But the house itself really has long history. They have an entrance fee for 100php for regular individual. They have some discounts for children and senior citizens.

There are plenty of stories that our tour guide shared with us, from the peepholes to what was served to wanted and unwanted guests. Not a whole lot of people go through this meseum, which is a pity since it has quite a history. Great showcase of period architecture and construction.
