Lovely provincial campsite on the river. Well managed, clean and quiet. Lots of trains going by across the river in both directions but nonetheless we slept a solid 12 hours which for us is highly unusual! Really enjoyed our stay and will return for another visit in future. We stayed in site #21 which overlooked the river and was nice and flat for our truck and camper.

Fantastic spot just outside Clearwater. We spent two nights here and spent the day in the Wells Gray Park which is well a visit. Good sites but choose carefully as some are shadier than others. We had to move from our pre booked site. We can recommend site 34.
Park staff were very friendly and helpful and we wished we had stayed for longer.

Stopped here for one night on the way to Jasper. Didn't have a reservation but the campground wasn't very full this time of year. Also, they keep 15 sites as first come first serve, even when all of the reserved sites are taken.
We had a site right above the river. It was wonderful to have a campfire and enjoy the view of the river. There are many sites that will accomodate large RV's. The sites have ample of space between them, providing a lot of privacy.
There are also several nice trails around the park. There is rail line across the river with frequent trains, but the noise is tolerable.

When all the other parks are full, there's room here! We finally went and enjoyed the proximity to Clearwater. After the day's activities, it was a quick drive to Dutch Lake. The campground has lots of trees between sites and a fun playground. I wish there was a shower building and flush toilets, so that's why it's only 4 stars. Park staff were very friendly.

We made a stop for a break and a lunch on one of the picnic benches in the park. The river self was quite wild at that moment. When we walked in the park, we saw some squirrels were busy eating pine cone. One was posing for my camera. The toilet was clean.

We just stooped here for 1 night, because we were on the way to Jasper. We had a reservation for site 21, because we had a 33 ft RV. It was close to the river with a fire pit.
the campground had no showers, but simple clean toilets. fresh water taps were everywhere around.
The rangers passed by frequently with fire wood.Good privacy, because there big trees everywhere. Walking/Hiking on the Thompson River is a MUST!

Great park. Only around 60 sites. Had no problem pulling in Friday night in 35ft motor home.
The park is quiet, and central to a lot. Few amenities so if your looking for full service, keep going.
Private sites, easy walk to river.
It’s a gem.

Highlight includes the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing clear water. Ideal for picnic.

We frequently plan a picnic at this quiet riverside stop. Often we see a train on the opposite side of the bank. Lots of First Nation Archeological Signifance here. Good spot to cross country ski in the winter as well....not just camping here

There is a very nice selection of sites along the river and hidden back in the trees. The campground is close to highway 5, but the sound of the river and the hill down to the sites made it rather unnoticeable. The train rumble right across the water is prominent, but not an issue if you are expecting it and accepting of the trade off for this great, easily accessible spot.
I enjoyed this river spot more than the site we had a few years ago in Wells Gray because you could go down the bank to the river right from our site (#26.) Most of the waterfalls are actually quicker to get to from the North Thompson River site and the weekend we were there it was just as quiet as the one at the end of the 70km long gravel road.
There is a water tap, but not recommended for drinking (boiling necessary.) Bring water.
I vote this an excellent camping stop between Alberta and the BC coast.
