Yes, there were tough moments, but few and far between. Yes, you have to have training so this is not recommended for novice. It's amazing! The journey is amazing and you are reminded, again, how tiny and insignificant, yet how rare and precious we all are... (quoting "Contact")

After a visit to Capilano, we decided to drive up to Grouse Mountain. There are 3 trails you can take. We started out on the Grouse Grind trail, but decided after about 5 minutes that it was going to take too long to do it (it was already 2:30pm), so we went back down and took the shorter Baden Powell trail. Even though it is shorter, it seemed just as difficult. And after about 45 minutes of hiking, we get to the end......and there is nothing. No view, no signage, nothing. It just suddenly ends. Quite a disappointment for the effort you'll put into it.

This was definitely not an easy hike, there is a lot of up and down until you reach the end. It took me 40 minutes each way going at an easy pace and resting a couple times.
however, once you get to the overlook you can't help but be in awe. very beautiful and lots of photo ops. One of the prettiest views i have seen in a long time. well worth the effort to get to the end of the trail.

Amazing workout & great experience - you can take it all the way from Deep Cove across the North Shore Mountains but unless you're in really good shape & training for the Knee Knacker run one or two sections are probably enough. Please remember to tell someone where you're going & when you expect to be back & take good waterproof hiking gear

For those who know the trail it is fine. However, generally speaking it is not well maintained (fallen trees or washouts may obstruct trail for an extended time) and is poorly marked. Those of us who know the trail have no difficulty knowing where to go and if you are used to rugged trails, its poor condition is not a problem. However I come across people who are lost quite regularly and objectively speaking I am unimpressed by how poorly it is maintained. Ravines that should be bridged on the Hollyburn slopes in West Van are not. The western section from Whyte Lake to Eagle Bluffs is downright dangerous if you don't already know where you are going. So in short, if you want to go, only go with someone who knows the trail well. Do not assume it is properly marked and do not take the western portion in West Van.

Please note that my comments apply to the West Vancouver portion of the Baden Powell Trail. The North Vancouver portion gets progressively better as you go east and the best maintained and marked portion is the Quarry Rock portion at the eastern end. Kudos to the Parks Dept of the District of North Vancouver for doing such a superior job over West Van.

Our daughter took us there to hike on a sunny and warm day. We didn’t find it busy as some of the reviews mentioned. We were there on a Saturday. Trail was well maintained. Found some new stairs & boardwalk built this year. Excellent view at the top.

A great way to sneak in some exercise for the entire family and Rover too..the creek beds were dried up today but normally the streams and waterfalls are lovely. View from Quarry Rock is spectacular..remember to bring your water and trail mix!! Great for kids of all ages..we always enjoy this hike.. we have 2 boys 7 & 12.

Well- marked, steep in places with wood stairs and walkways. Look for critters along the way, like lizards and spiders. Lots of well behaved dogs that are clearly seasoned hikers. Wear proper footwear as can be slippery with stones and ground that are inclines

Plenty of steps (I did nearly 60 flights according to my tracker) but easy enough climbing. A 3 year old managed to beat me but you do need a certain base level of fitness. The track is easy to follow and plenty wide enough. Busy though so not for those looking for seclusion.

quarry rock hikeの入り口。ここから45分歩いて頂上へ。道はきれいに整備されているのでスニーカーでも十分。バンクーバーに来たら是非行ってください。
