Beautiful walk at Govetts Leap lookout. Nice visitor center with lots of information. Very accessible hiking trails, clear indication of the route. Very quiet.

Nice heath with great views of London, perfect place for a picnic or a walk. This is right next to the Greenwich Park which is definitely worth a visit as well.

If your a business and you let zippo circus put up advertising on you shop. They give you completely tickets. We got turned away with we are fully booked. So you are made to look stupid. Don't trust them.

Yesterday, I attended the Blackheath funfair fair with my partner, son (15yo), niece (10yo) & nephew (8yo).
We usually have a wonderful time at the fun fair, it's our on-going tradition since I was young.
The evening started fun but ended not so much.
Here is why:
It stands to reason that communication is key in a situation whereby if there is a fault with the ride and members of the public are stuck on a faulty ride. It saddens me to say we were not even treated with any decency from those who were operating the Freak Out ride.
The ride is constructed where all passagers and facing towards each other with limited visibility when boarded (example of photo below).
Shortly after we boarded, we were strapped in tightly by the overhead bars to commence the ride as normal. The ride was at full capacity and we all eagerly waited for the ride to begin. After five minutes of sitting in the seats, we were all wondered why the ride hadn't begun. Half an hour later, we were still left strapped tightly in our seats with no explanation nor update from the staff. Within this time, a passenger became enraged, trying to break free but couldn't, another had a panic attack.
We were shouting to be set free or obtain some explanation but received none, instead staff were scrambling around us, trying to fix the electrics, ignoring our calls and screams as if we were invisible. Eventually, someone came to talk to the hysterical young man but by then, emotions had gotten the better of him and he was screaming to be released as tearing were streaming down his face.
The fire brigade was called and firemen turned up and they came to aid to the young woman who was having a panic attack first. Then they tried to explain to us the situation with the little knowledge they knew and yet still no clear update or explanation from the staff.
Paramedics showed up, again coming to the young woman's aid.
As we were stuck, daylight turned into night and still no communication from staff. My concern throughout the whole ordeal was the safety of the three children as I was placed opposite them. I called my sister to explain we were stuck and couldn't provide her with a reasonable explanation as to why the ride was faulty.
There was mentions of cutting us out from the ride, envolking more fear in the other passengers.
Panels are now screwed off, other member of the park have come to provide their expertise.
Finally, one by one we were set free.
We then sought to get money back from the lady in the booth (Christine), and met with disstain after a fellow passenger was explaining why weren't treated humanly. No apology, but rather hesitant in giving our money back, flung her hands at and uttered claim against my insurance. She was them convinced by what I could see senior members of the park asking her to provide us with our ride fee.
At any given point, Christine and others who were operating the ride could have come to us as soon as they knew of the fault. Explained the situation, made us feel as comfortable as possible and it could have helped reduce the panic and fear of the passengers.
Faults are bound to happen and I can appreciate that but customer service during these moments are important to ensure that we feel safe and looked while we are trapped, especially when there are young children on board.
Needlesstosay, I'm utterly disappointed by the conduct of the staff as we were not given an ounce of decency or compassion.
I hope this can be reviewed and sufficient training is given to all employees in the park to deal in these highly stressed situations because WE, the public, attend to have fun and enjoy the rides without fear and hesitant. Nothing should be more paramount from members of staff than the safety of our family, friends and to be treated with professionally and common decency.

Covid-19 has sadly cut a swathe through many of the businesses in Blackheath Village. A small department store and even a bank branch has closed, its cash points receiving cards only to regurgitate them after explaining none of their services are any longer available. There were perhaps always far too many cafes and restaurants in the village and a number have closed including Mediterranean restaurant Aqua (as well as its Bromley branch), Cafe Rouge and an Indian restaurant although that promises to be shortly re-born as a burger joint. Pleased to see Buenos Aires steakhouse and Zero Degrees Microbrewery appear to have survived. Am less impressed by the survival of the much over-rated Ivy. Gail’s Bakery appeared remarkably inefficient this Sunday morning with long queues outside whilst Madeleine’s crepery were able to serve diners almost immediately despite having fewer seats.

Great open heath space, if a little muddy at this time of year. Visited the church which is beautiful and featured in the video to the Steps song 'Trajedy'. Congregation were very welcoming. Well worth a look.

This is a typical small English village with many small shops and restaurants. A nearby park and open field but also a petrochemical plant as its neighbour. The train stops here and it is close to Maritime Greenwich.

Huge venue ! Nice outdoor seating. Manager shouts at the staff and chews with his mouth open. It tolerates wandering drunks harassing the customers. Which is tiresome !

Are there any accommodation places in black Heath? I can only find the Clarendon, and was wondering if anyone knows of a place that's boutiquey and stylish! If I come to London I want to really have an indulgent time!! Thanks

Hi Hilary,
As far as I know that's the only place in Blackheath.
I'd suggest looking for places in the nearby Greenwich as they have a more extensive selection of accommodations
