Location is fantastic. 10 minutes walk to Betws-y-Coed shops restaurants railway station. Very pretty areas with waterfalls streams and mountain backdrop.
The site itself was extremely clean but we found the pitches a bit nonplus. Yes we had water electric drainage and a good area to put up an awning and park the car but really nowhere to sit outside. A small patch of grass behind the parked vehicle gave really no privacy and we sat watching the mice!
The dog walk off site around the golf course is very pretty but no safe enclosed dog running area. A dog bin is placed near the side gate on a patch of land where you are asked not to allow your dog to poo or pee! I understand this maybe used by tent residents? So why put the bin there? I didn't find anything to indicate it was a really dog friendly site. Many signs on the static gardens said "No dog pee or poo be respectful" I don't believe the majority of dog owners are disrespectful. The dog bowl never had fresh water. Dogs are not allowed in Reception and must stay on a lead even if they are under control.
Excluding disabled facilities there are only three showers 3 toilets and 3 wash rooms. This is insufficient for the size of the site. Always queues in the mornings. Decent wash up and laundry area.
I have to mention the loyalty system. It doesn't work. We spent 8 nights at Oxon last Sept. We lost the card so the rules are ... tough! Although our booking is traceable if you lose the card or maybe not given one to start with your nights will not be counted on the loyalty system. I was fine with this except when I queried it I was not given correct info start with. I was given the runaround of email here and try there and phone this number. Basically the Receptionist or maybe she was the Manager could not give me a straight answer. I received unclear communication from her! Why? The answer to my simple question was "No there is nothing we can do."Instead I received an hours worth of runaround and eventually spoke to head office who explained. I am not happy about losing my loyalty stamps but rules are rules. I doubt if I could trust Morris again so it is unlikely I will rebook now. I can take my custom elsewhere.
Shop had milk but I was not prepared to pay £1.60 for a bottle of water. A bit pricey.
We did try to follow some of the walks recommended but maybe they are not really up to date. If I am really picky ...please look at the state of the notice board and how things are slung on it.
Did not know about the departure rules until we arrived. We usually leave sites very early having packed up the day before so we don't make any noise. We did ask about getting out at 7.00 am but we were told to go back again the day before departure. Unfortunately we went out for the day and were not back until after 5.00 pm. So we couldn't depart until 8.30 am. This was quite annoying ahead of a 7 hour drive!
Site is probably much better out of season when it's not so busy.

We took a STEAM TRAIN that went through the mountains of SNOWDONIAN with a Viking cruise excursion.
We saw forests, small waterfalls and streams, sheep, cows, wildflowers.
We passed through narrow tunnels.
We reached a small village called Betws-y-Coed, where we dined on chicken and vegetables in a restaurant.
It was a nice day spent in a peaceful countryside.

This is a lovely place to stop for lunch from the cafe situated on the train platform. There is an old time feeling to this station and it is very well maintained making it a lovely place to sit and spend some time.

Very quaint, unique and overall lovely place.
Firstly, it’s location. Railway station is based in the heart of Betws Y Coed, meaning you could get absolutely anywhere in town from there. Also, there is a whole bunch of various attractions alongside it, such as: railway museum with a tiny cutest homemade railway, old cemetery, start/end of golf course walk, suspension bridge. Then, going further into town, there are all sorts of things, such as various shops, hotels, restaurants, outer walks and bridges.
On the station itself, there are shops, cafes, and an amazing pizzeria. You can get hiking gear, presents, snacks or proper food there. Also there is an art gallery I think, but it only operates during weekends at this point in time.

Although the town is set in amongst beautiful scenery and amazing walks nearby, unfortunately the town itself was somewhat underwhelming. There is an abundance of outdoor shops, and a very nice coffee place. However we were disappointed in the parking-expensive and also the public toilets which cost 50p a visit, don’t give change and don’t accept apple pay(the ones up the hill had a piece of gaffer tape over the card payment machine), so , if you have no cash and are needing the loo , hard luck! I had no change so put a pound coin in and didn’t receive any change. A very expensive trip to the loo! I spoke to the toilet attendant in the main car park toilets about this and he was extremely rude to me. I think if Wales wants to attract visitors to boost their economy they need to address their public toilets situation-even disabled toilets have to be paid for with exact coinage.

We walked to the front opposite the station where there are some nice shops and some eateries. Still crossed the road and entered this nice little station. We saw a mini train on the other side of the tracks. That turned out to be from the Conwy Valley Railway Museum.

Had breakfast there twice as we were staying at the nearby Gwydyr Hotel. Really lovely place, very cozy, beautiful pictures on the wall and good food.

Nice station behind a nice front of shops and restaurants
There is still an old train set that you can reach via a railway bridge
There are mini rails for small trains for the children
The train arrived right on time and didn't stop for long

Great lunch . Bit of a wait and a few too many wasps. Had the Welsh rarebit which was gorgeous . Love the ethos of the place

We're going to be passing 3 or 4 hours here in the afternoon of 10 Oct (between leaving an excursion train, and picking it up again). We are unable to walk very far, so wonder if we'll survive on the station and immediate vicinity, e.g., seats, toilets, cafes, bars etc. Thanks for any tips.

Are there any trains running which do a round trip back to Betws-y-Coed Station? We are planning a visit next Tuesday or Wednesday?
Rédigé le 13 janvier 2018
I got there from Llandudno junction, the trains only run about four times a day though, not sure about this time of year either, sorry I can’t help any more
