Beautiful place. Well worth a visit. A lovely walk up to it, although a little steep (just take your time) but have lovely stations of the cross and a small grotto on the way up. The views are amazing at the top and the scale of the statue is spectacular. Lovely tranquil place.

Had been meaning to visit for ages. Love site. Well locked after with short grass. Nice path takes up up the hill. Steep but just take ur time. View is impressive. See 360 around for miles. Will definitely be back. Great place for a little history. Good for kids.

What a lovely tribute to St. Patrick. We weren’t expecting the climb but oh so worth it in the end. The view from the top is amazing!

A must for those interested in the history of St Patrick. Fabulous views from the top, steep climb but worth it for the view. Situated not far from Saul where St Patrick's first church was said to have been built. Go on a Sunday and see inside the church, there's a service each Sunday

We found Slieve Patrick after visiting Dpwn Cathedral and Saul Church. It was a special visit.
We spotted the statue up on top of a big hill and found the place to park the car and enter the grounds.
A trail winds up the steep hill lined by stations of the cross. Just before you reach the top there are sculptures of saints at the foot of the cross at the crucifixion.
When you reach the top you see the beautiful immense statue of Saint Patrick. Turn around and take in the stunning view of the rolling meadows of County Down.

It is worth climbing up to the statue of St Patrick. It is not very high and the views are wonderful.

Had tried a few times before to find Saint Patrick's Statue, but just had'nt gone far enough along Saul Road.
Lot of rain before my visit and the walk up to the Statue is uphill and mainly grass but it is passable and I got up , and down, without difficulty.
The Statue is imposing and high, particularly when you stand beside it, and the view from it over the Down countryside must be very good on a clear day

The national monument to Saint Patrick is actually an open air church and mass is celebrated there twice yearly at Easter and in June.
It is a superb walk for people of all faiths and none.
I’ve climbed the hill many times and always been rewarded by the spectacular views which showcase the County Down countryside.
The most memorable was on a sunny day in mid spring with the smell of whin blossoms scenting the air.
The views open up as you walk and there are seats to sit and absorb the experience.
Suitable for people with moderate ability as there is quite a steep climb at the very top.
I highly recommend a visit.

This is a great walk and though a little steep, the views from the top are more than worth it. We sampled local breakfast in Strangford first, which was delicious, then walked it off here. Monument is impressive. Lovely part of the world.

We went on tour of Northern Ireland and this was on our list. When we tried to find it we were brought to the heritage centre. Now I have had enough of heritage centres and find them a bit the samo samo. Most people would go into heritage centre and think they were done. Seriously you can google anything you want to know, it is the sight of the statue you really should see. So we searched instead for slieve Patrick statue and google maps brought us right there. It is only about 15 minutes from centre.
You can see the statue on the top of the hill so was easy to find really. There was nobody there. We parked in front where there are gates. Go through the gates and the statue is about a 10 minute walk up a hill. Would not recommend for very elderly. However you can stop on the way up as there are seats. There are also stations of the cross on the walk up. When we finally got to the top the views were lovely and it was nice to take pictures so close.
There was no one else around only a man we had passed down the bottom walking his dog.
The only shame is that people are missing out on this because they think the heritage centre is the place to go. So wrong. It is free, a lovely bit of exercise and gorgeous on a lovely sunny day.
