Small but well-run museum absolutely packed with mementoes of this most famous Scottish regiment.
The information boards are concise and clear.
Upper level isn't accessible to wheelchair users, but there may be a lift I didn't notice.

The Museum is indeed a hidden gem and anyone interested in the history of the Scottish regiments will thoroughly appreciate this collection. Anyone with a family connection to the Royal Highland Fusiliers and its antecedent regiments the Royal Scots Fusiliers and the Highland Light Infantry will relish their chance to absorb all that is on display. The Museum was well run until March 2006 until it fell into the "stewardship" of dubious people like the harridan from Honiton who sent me the attached email. Until this woman has been exorcised from the building the Regimental Museum will be justifiably regarded as a not very user/visitor-friendly place. Under resourced.

A great museum with lots of artifacts. Great badges on display. Lovely helpful staff.
Hopefully the display lighting will be improved.
Would like to see it better advertised.

Having served for 40 years in HM Army and visited many regimental museums I was blown away with this museum. The Regiment is so lucky in having such a solid base here. Many regiments have lost their museums or they have been forced to store artifacts losing some in the process. Of course the location is very fitting within Stirling Castle as you would expect. The displays are set out extremely well following the interesting history of the Regiment, which is closely bound with British history. The painting depicting various Regimental actions are so well displayed and atmospheric. The painting of the Regiment in Aden (Crater) brought back strong memories for me. The displays, from very early days through to modern times are well set out and present the history in an informative and interesting way. This is interesting for the young and older visitor. I can strongly recommend this interesting Regimental museum of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

[Description]
A regimental museum in a long, narrow building. More exhibits upstairs.
[Getting there]
Nearest station: Charing Cross (Glasgow). Exit the station and walk up Newton Street. Take your second right into Sauchiehall Street and the museum will be to your left in less than a minute.

It wasn't until I took my son to the summer kids club that I discovered the Royal Highland Fusiliers museum. He had a great time and it was good to be able to look at the displays whilst he was occupied - such a broad collection! The girl who ran the club was fantastic with all the kids and very enthusiastic about the museum. We will be back!

I found it brilliant and a good use of the limited space and they had they had plenty on show and I left feeling I have learnt plenty and look forward to being back soon. the lady I spoke to was very passionate about her role as front of house and for the regiment she works with.
I hope that the move to the Kelvin goes well and that the fundraising is achieved.

Fascinating museum. This museum is situated on Sauchiehall Street. It presents the history of the Royal Highland Fusiliers, as well as the previous regiments from 1678 to the present. Wonderful exhibits. Huge collection of army memorabilia. Very interesting museum. Fascinating piece of local history. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. Shop with unique souvenirs. The museum is housed in a historic building with many Charles Rennie Mackintosh features , the building does have a lift designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Well worth a free visit . Great place to visit.

I should be most grateful if you would respond to my recent e- and confirm that my picture taken 2005 has now been removed from your records. It was sent in error as I have never served in RHF though briefly was a Member of RHF Association.
Sincerely
