Lohnenswerter Ausblick über Glasgow. Es ist allerdings kein 360° View, da die wie ein Flugzeugcockpit gestaltete Kabine keine Fenster auf der Rückseite hat und immer je nach Wind gedreht wird. Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend, beantwortet Fragen kompetent (auch die Fragen, die ich "noch" gar nicht gestellt hatte).

This is a free-standing tower, located on the southern bank of the river Clyde.

Beautiful and interesting tower. Glasgow Science Centre Tower is located on the south bank of the River Clyde in Glasgow and is part of the Glasgow Science Center complex. It is shaped like an aerofoil with 4 manually-operated motors to turn it into the wind in order to reduce wind resistance and improve stability. It is the tallest fully rotating freestanding structure in the world, in which the whole structure is capable of rotating 360 degrees. The original architectural design was by the architect Richard Horden. Great place for a day out and would highly recommend this to everyone.

A trip to the top of the glasgow tower will cost £3. A staff member will give you a guide of the engineering details of the tower first if you want to or go straight up to enjoy the view. You can spend as long as you want in the top but 15 mins will be quite enough. There are digital screens so you know what buildings/sights you see. Overall great experience.

we have visited the Science Centre many times over the years and this is the first time it has been open . Great views but do not go if you cannot stand heights as the lift has windows you can see out as you go up . Only 4 of us went up and the view is great the disappointing thing was finding out the tower only turns twice a year. It seems an incredible waste of money that the public cannot enjoy it rotating .They could have built a tower at half the price and we would have been quite happy .We bought our tickets at the Tower itself . Thank you to young Bobby who showed us around and fielded all our questions .

In quite a few visits I have only been lucky to get up it once excellent views and staff not for the faint of heart as the tower dose move when you are in it was it worth the wait yes note if the lift fails you need to walk down the stairs

Really enjoyed the tower, fantastic unobstructed views in every direction from the top.
A few things worth knowing:
- you can buy single tickets for this that aren't coupled with Science Museum
- but you need to buy tickets from the science museum ticket office, not from the tower itself. They're around £6.50 each, no family ticket prices
- Once you book go to the tower and they book you a time to go up in the lift in a small group
- groups go up about every 5-10 mins after a short intro talk on the tower.
- It can rotate slowly to face into the wind, but it doesn't continually revolve. You can feel very slight, cushioned wobbles from the top on windy days, but not much.
- good interpretation at the top showing what you can see from Glasgow landmarks to distant mountains

We visited the tower as a package with the Science Centre. We got to the tower as soon as it opened so we were the first ones to go up, we loved the talk from the guide explaining how the tower was built and how it works, it was very interesting and the design is so innovative its incredible but once you go up the views are amazing, especially on a clear day, definitely worth a visit.

spektakulär muss der Ausblick oben bei 360° drehbarer Plattform in 105 Metern Höhe sein! Wie ein Riesen-Spargel erhebt er sich am südlichen Ufer des Clyde beim Science-Centre und überragt alle Bauten.

I waited for a clear sunny day and it was well worth waiting for but I did phone to make sure the tower was operating as it was quite windy.The staff were so knowledgeable.I can now understand why Glasgow is known as "Our Dear Green Place." From the 360 degree panoramic view you also see all the many parks within Glasgow all the main motorways rivers canals churches universities and more. Go along you will not regret it.
