We had some time one morning and walked a few blocks down from our hotel to see this church. The church is located at Parnell Square. It was designed Andrew Heiton from Perth, Scotland. A grand example of a decorated Gothic building, with a spire 180 feet high. The church was erected in 1864 with funding from Alexander Findlater, a local merchant.

Пресвитерианская церковь аббатства расположена на площади Парнелл. Церковь в готическом стиле со шпилем высотой в 54,9 м. Была построена в 1864 году при финансовой поддержке дублинского купца Александра Финдлейтера и в народе известна как "церковь Финдлейтера". Внутри простенько, но светло.

What a welcoming Christian church community. We stayed across the street at the Castle Hotel and were looking for a Christian church for Easter. Highly recommend for a visit!

As we walked north along O'Connell Street, past Parnell Square and just past the Garden of Remembrance, we came across the splendid Abbey Presbyterian Church, otherwise known as Findlater's Church. Worth a visit to see all 3 in a row!

Prominent Presbyterian churches are often a trifle dour, but have a certain grandeur. Few are built in the highly decorative Gothic Revival style of the Abbey Church. It is said that the man who endowed the church, prominent merchant Alexander Findlater, insisted on this Victorian Gothic architecture, which to the casual observer looks more Catholic than Presbyterian. The church was completed in 1864 and remains an active parish of the Presbyterian Church to this day. It's a short walk to Parnell Square, near O'Connell Street. By the way, Dubliners call it Findlater's Church, following on from the modernist writer James Joyce, who named it so in several novels.

Stayed in hotel across road so easy to get to for me. Me and my husband had a marriage blessing here on a weekend away for our anniversary. Beautiful church and alan the vicar was so welcoming and friendly 😁

The Abbey Presbyterian Church is located in Parnell Square North, close to O’Connell Street. It is a finely decorated church with its Gothic architecture and its majesty. Overall, I do think it is worthy a visit, if you are in Dublin.

Popularly known as Findlater's this gorgeous Gothic style church was completed in 1864. It received generous funding from Alexander Findlater, a successful merchant and businessman, thus its colloquial moniker.
It dominates resplendently the view along upper O'Conell Street onto Parnell Square. It has a delightful facade and is especially attractive at times of a blue sky backdrop.
Inside is lovely. The vista along the nave is tranquil, with white columns on both sides leading to the altar. A magnificent organ is to be seen and one can imagine the fine music emanating. A rose window is in the background.
Many memorial plaques to, amongst others, fallen soldiers are in place. Poignantly there is one to a Mr. Williamson of the Transatlantic Post Office who perished in the 1912 Titanic tragedy.
The well patterned ceiling is striking. A grand pulpit with its canopy is another noteworthy feature. Fine stained glass windows suffuse the space with radiant light.

I came here after going back from the Mater hospital. It is just accross the street from Remembrance gardens. The church has a very nice rosette with quite unusual violet and green stained glass. It also has a floor heating system (not working anymore) but you can still see really beautiful metal floor tiles on the sides of the way to the altar. Also, ppl who work in the church are lovely.
