This was our fifth biking trip with Detours. This time we biked in Dordogne. It is a beautiful region with so many different things to see. Detours did a great job coordinating everything. The luggage transfers were great, the GPS instructions were really good, and the hotels were well-chosen. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Detours again!

We had a wonderful experience with Detours in France. Everything was perfect -- the hotels, restaurants, routes and detailed information to keep us on track. We couldn't have asked for a better trip.

return customers here, this trip to Alsace was our fourth with Detours in France dating back to 2004. They were great then and over the years, and this was one of the best! The hotels the company selected were outstanding even though we picked the lowest level of accomodation. The location of the hotels was great, particularly the Strasbourg hotel situated right on the canal on the island in old Strasbourg.
We were very pleased with the route planning. As long time RideWithGPS subscribers we appreciated the thoroughness of the GPX itinerary. The rides were outstanding. There were challenging hills (particularly the climb to Mont Sainte Odile Abbey) but there were also beautiful flat rides along the canals.
We had great equipment, three ebikes and three touring bikes, and all performed well. We never had to try out the flat tire equipment furnished with each rental. The panniers were great quality. It was evident that maintenance of the equipment provided is a priority!
Probably the best part of the service was the thorough writeups on each route and top provided in the cue sheets and trip package, full of suggestions for meals, sights, history.

We did a 7 night Burgundy walk tailored to our needs. Had a fabulous time with perfect hotels, great meals and interesting and well organised routes. This is the 4th walk we have done with Sarah and her crew - 2 in Burgundy, in Alsace and Dordogne. All were memorable and we can't recommend this company highly enough.

We have just come home from a great cycling experience set up by Detours in France. We were are group of eight, and all part of the baby boom generation. We used this company last year and found them to be most reliable and prompt in answering our queries. Their choice of hotels, particularly Chartreuse de Bignac, bike routes, almost all through traffic free country roads and restaurants, oh that delicious French food, was excellent. They rented us a combination of touring and electric bikes, which were very appropriate for the terrain. At the start of the trip we were each given a package outlining the route and detailed history of the areas we were to bike through.
I would highly recommend this company. Thank you Florent.

Detours in France has been, is, and certainly always will be our go-to tour company in Beaune. Since our inaugural trip 10 years ago, Sarah has been instrumental in nurturing our appetite for Beaune and Burgundy – so much so that our visits have expanded from weekend jaunts to more immersive, month-long stays. She listens to our ideas. Then, thanks to her in-depth local knowledge, meticulous planning, and wealth of contacts, she flawlessly and joyfully delivers heightened experiences we couldn’t have imagined or executed on our own. Deluxe, private, lively wine tours and tastings (even during the height of harvest) led by expert and engaging guides. Detailed maps and written commentaries she updates annually for our self-guided hikes. In-the-know stories and fun facts about historical sites. Cooking classes with market tours so we can replicate regional dishes at home. Hard-to-secure reservations at Michelin-starred restaurants. Even a French teacher to help me brush up on my vocabulary.

Florent was incredibly responsive in the planning process - repeatedly giving us options - and making the planning process easy. We had incredibly intricate itinerary, which was customized to our needs.
Florent met us the day before the tour to provide us an info packet, not only for our tour the next day, but what to focus on on our one day in Beaune.
Michael was a treasure - meeting us the next morning and beginning one of the best days of our visit. It was incredibly informtive, fun and easy.
We’d do it again in a second 😊

Florent accommodated our requests for a tour that required a driver and wine tour... it was amazing... we asked for a wonderful driver, who knew the region and wine and spoke English and had a sense of humor. We got all of the above in Michael. Not only did we have beautiful wine tastings with incredible lunch with tastings; tour of the area but Michael was so incredibly informative. Florent listened to everything we asked for and delivered more. C'était incroyable!

The itinerary put together by Sarah and facilitated by Sarah and Michael were absolutely wonderful. We are wine lovers and they provided us with Burgundy wine tastings that we could never have gotten on our own. We tasted multiple Premier Crus and at least 6 Grand Crus. Even though we were touring just at the beginning of the busy harvest season, with Sarah's influence, we were able to get cellar tours and tastings. We were even greeted by a vintner as he came from the fields. Additionally, Sarah arranged for us to dine at the finest restaurants in Beaune including 2 Michelin starred places. But, most importantly, Sarah and Michael were the most warm and congenial hosts that anyone could imagine. We felt that our very close friends were providing us with this unforgettable experience.

Hi Jean and others.....where did you stay on this lovely walking vacation in the Beaune area? We are traveling the first week of Nov. Will it be too cold then to walk or bike? thanks!
