We did not have a long to wait when we arrived at our designated time as the queue was very short. Entry was organised very efficiently.

I think the TA'er below has answered your question. It's well worth visiting the rooftop of the Duomo, and it's great that there is a lift. The best time of day to visit would be around 4.00 pm, when the crowds have started to disperse. Still lots of people around, of course, but much less than during the morning and first part of the afternoon. Well, that was our experience anyway!

Facing the doors to the cathedral, the shop for the tickets is to the right, about 1/3 the length of the cathedral. You can buy tickets to just the rooftop (terrasses). If you have a credit it debit card that is chip+pin you can purchase from the self service kiosks otherwise get a number at the desk as you enter them wait your turn to be called. Using the kiosk saves time ... a lot of time. When we bought tix In January only 3 numbers advanced while we used a kiosk, the number we got just in case we had cc issues was 30-some numbers higher than the one being served. Definitely pay the extra for the lift, well worth it and shorter line. The lift/elevator is on the diagonal opposite of the cathedral tourist entrance. That’s a long line with barriers on the left side of the cathedral (again looking from the large piazza facing the 5 doors)- this is the climbers line. The lift line is shorter and near the “back” still on the left side. All of this was in January when scaffolding was on the left side. Access to the right side left was closed. They are(we’re?) doing extensive renovations to the decorative carvings on the roof. Enjoy your visit - very cool to see the carvings up close and great views!

Mi pare di no. Bisogna piuttosto chiedere se prenotando ingresso duomo prevedono terrazze. Sono 2 cose separate cmq.
