Excellent tour! Rachel was a wonderful guide as we left Amsterdam to wander through a few small villages learning the history of the area before coming to a private tulip farm where we had a lunch of bread, cheese, beer and apple pie. We then walked out to be up close to the tulips and learn about how they are farmed. Even though the weather wasn’t good (wet and very windy) it was still an excellent day and we would highly recommend it!

Amazing day with Rachel touring backroads and visiting a private tulip farm with our small group of 8 riding in very comfortably in a clean van. We stopped in a quaint town to pick up bread, cheese and a delicious apple pie before heading to the tulips. The tulips were more beautiful than I imagined. We learned so much about the tulip farming process. Next stop was a working windmill where we learned more about how they manage the water and avoid flooding. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and pie to wrap up the day.
Thank you for a great day. So much better than the crowds and large tour bus!

What an amazing time we had with Rory and what an amazing host! We toured the countryside, stopped in beautiful small towns, got up close to windmills off the tourist trail (no crowds!), got to tour a tulip farm and got to spend some incredible time with the farmer getting information about tulip farming. Rory even indulged us by stopping at a cheese manufacturer to get some cheese from their company store and Rory kept us both entertained and educated through the whole trip. We literally can’t recommend this tour more highly. If you want a private tour away from the crowds to enjoy the real Netherlands…this is your tour!

Thanks for taking the time to review. And you're both looking very smart amongst the tulips :)

What an amazing day! We were a little early for the tulips, BUT Rory took us to a tulip farm and we were still able to see some (that were being grown for a local town celebration) and speak with the farmers wife. We were able to see and learn about tulips, milk and potatoes. It was very personal and not a “big bus” type of day. We stopped in 2 little towns along the way. Small, personable, local towns. One we had home made Dutch apple pie in a quaint little shop and the other a local Dutch lunch, which was quite yummy. Then we went to learn about windmills. I have to say before we started, I only knew of windmills for electricity, but we learned so much more! We went off the tourist path and it was definitely worth it! We 100% recommend Rory and his tours! Thank you so much for accommodating us and our last minute trip!

Rory, the guide, did a fantastic job. He was utterly professional in his communication in the run up to the tour and utterly charming on the day. The time flew by, he was very informative but not boring, and the conversational approach was just perfect.
Bravo.

We had a great day with Rory, visiting small communities outside Amsterdam. Lots of history running the expanse from the 1600s to the 2020s. Windmills, beautiful countryside, great stops for pie and lunch. Very much enjoyed this tour and highly recommend for visitors who want to see this beautiful country.

It was an awesome day bus tour w lunch and a boat ride. The guides were all very knowledgeable, courteous and fun. You will have a nice time on this tour and worth the 59 euro.

Hi there,
Well, you've reviewed the wrong business / tour - I only do small group tours, no buses on my tour and I'm much more expensive than €59! Plus, I only visit a clog factory by request - they're rather touristy for my off-the-beaten-track tour.

Hi Jetimz,
I think you posted your review to the wrong profile as my tour is always relaxed and I never rush anyone. (It sounds like you were on a big bus tour, whereas my tours are a minivan or car where I''m also the driver).
But thanks for the five stars all the same!
Rory

Our day tour with Rory was fantastic! He picked us up right outside our B and B and treated us to a leisurely tour through the countryside with just the right amount of history and information. We loved the stop in Monnickendam and, of course, the apple pie. While the deli baked bread for our sandwiches, he took an extra wander, then headed to the cheese maker before our stop at the windmill - which was a real highpoint! Finally, off to the farm to meet the ladies responsible for the cheese, and the woman who cares for them.
This tour was the perfect way to spend a day outside the city, and Rory got us back in plenty of time to enjoy our last evening in Amsterdam. Highly recommend as a far superior option to bus tours.
Thank you, Rory!

We decided to avoid the organised tours as we wanted a day out at outrleisure. We took bus 391 from the bus station atr Central Station at a return fare of EUR 11.50 per person which stops right outside the complex.
There is no entrance fee and the main attractions are working windmills, a cheese farm and a clog making factory. There are also many other things to see as it is a complete village also you can take a boat trip on the lake at an additional cost. It is ideal for adults and children alike. Behind the cheese farm there are goats, cows, chickens and ducks all with the freedom of open fields.
We had lunch there which was reasonably priced.
There are hundreds of items to buy in the clog makers not just clogs!! Also the cheese farm shop is fabulous and we bought several different cheeses
which were all delicious and a selection of mustards.
The bus returns to Amsterdam Central Station every 15 mins from the same stop as you arrive at.
This is a fabulous day out especially when the weather is good.

For those of you reading this review and the one below, this doesn't relate to my private tours! They're people generically reviewing Amsterdam windmills, and doing so mistakenly under my business profile.
Oh well, at least they're five star reviews (and in case you think I'm piggybacking on these erroneous reviews, I do recommend you read my actual five star reviews!).
Rory.

Hi! Does this tour include experience of walking into tulip fields? Are there time for photography?

Aloha from Hawaii… we will be in Amsterdam September 10 through the 13th, a family of four. Really looking forward to seeing some tulips but not sure if they’re in season. Very interested in seeing the countryside and a few windmills and even to do some wine tasting and we love apple pie. 💕

Hi Rory! My boyfriend and I are coming to Amsterdam in December and we wanted to book a tour with you! Availability on here only starts in March, but we wanted to know if you have availability on Tuesday December 13? This sounds like a great experience despite tulips not being in season at this time. I tried emailing the email you gave someone else and it didn't go through. Please let me know how we can book with you :)

Hi Barry,
The tulips will be long but we are available for a private countryside and windmills tour (or another bespoke itinerary). You can email me at the email address on the website (TA doesn't allow me to post it here).
Best
Rory

Hi, we are two people traveling from July 28 to August 02. We would like to see the Tulips fields, the windmills, visit Giethoorn and Bruges. Could you please send me a cost ?
Rédigé le 18 juillet 2018
Just so you know, the tulip fields will not be in bloom when you are visiting. You'll have to contact the tour company directly for a quote; all tours are custom and a function of the size of the group.

We are arriving via MSC Magnifica on 4/19/18 at 9 am and would like to see Anne Frank House, Tulips, Windmills for 3 adults. We leave the next morning. Please advise if you could arrange a tour, cost and itinerary. Thank you for your reply.
Rédigé le 25 mars 2018
Hello,
The Anne Frank House is almost certainly not possible as you have to buy tickets two months before. How long would you like the tour to last?
Please email concierge at netherlandsculturetours dott com and we can discuss the tour in detail.
Met vriendelijke groet
Rory

Hi Jackie,
We're not specialists in WW2, and are just heading into our busiest time of the year (tulips) so we wouldn't be able to get the research done in time and be confident of doing a great job.
There is an Amsterdam WW2 walking tour, which I have personally been on and it's great (it's number 3 on Trip Advisor, so is easy to find).
We hope this helps.
Rory
