Went to the Magna Carta today, been past it loads but never been to it so thought I should pay a visit.Overall it was lovely, very interesting,I never knew that each chair was so carefully and meticulously designed.Really cool design. You get A lot more then just chairs lying about in a field. Also they are currently working on an audio trail which is really good, did a part of the already existing one where you have a board and you scan a qr code on you’re phone to hear about it.Very interesting. Also has toilets and a tearoom on site.Lovely countryside that surrounds it.

For such an important event in history and with so much wealth in the area, its a shame the upkeep isn't better. Is that because the National Trust run it?

I walk past this place quite a lot when doing dog walks and stuff and it’s quite a cute little place to stop at it’s very calm and simple there.

A lovely place to visit which is full of history. I parked at the NT car park snd strolled around the area. Lots to easy, easy walking although there are a few steps - worth a visit

A monument funded by the American bar association to mark the Magna Carta and the formation of law and human rights globally.

A most interesting place for anyone with an interest in our British history and the way democracy and 'bills of rights' came about around the world - particularly in the USA.
There is plenty of walking if you wish to visit each of the monuments that make up the site. However, each part has a something of interest.
The sculpture of a set of 12 chairs - The Jurors - is particularly poignant at this time. A place to definitely sit and reflect.
On the other side of the road from the site, the river flows serenely past some lovely country.
The NT café does a very good value cream tea when you are in need of refreshment.

Historic site in Runnymede
If honest monument needs a bit of clean
Signposting from car park not great, but found easily by following other walkers
Would I travel just for this …no, but as part of day of activities …yes

ラニーミードの中にあります。1215年にラニーミードでジョン王がマグナ・カルタに署名したことを記念して、記念碑が建てられています。謂われを説明する案内板(英語)もあり、ちょっとした社会見学にもなります。

Its billed as the most significant event that has ever taken place in terms of human rights, law and order, freedom of speech etc that has been copied and followed all over the world. If that is even half true then it should be surrounded by tourists, pilgrimages and activists of all kind yet anyone hardly knows about it. So either its highly overrated in theory or massively underrated in reality.
Whatever is the case, its a lovely place that has river, meadows, greenery, memorials, modern art work and of course the history as an added flavour. If history is not your thing then you can simply walk around and enjoy the natural beauty of this posh, upper class wealthy Surrey countryside. Either way you'll have a great day.

This monument is easily located as there is a clear path going diagonally across the open park to it.
The Magna Carta was used as a reference by the United States of America for their constitution and this is why this monument stands here. The memorial is actually erected by the American Bar.
There are some good descriptive plaques in front of the monument which explain its significance.
