stayed here five years ago, new owners now, what a difference, the wigwam was warm (heating on) clean and inviting, fresh flowers on table welcome complimenty tea coffee milk etc. toiletries in bathroom, blanket for our pet. Hot tub was ready for use, outdoor toys for children. Staff were superb especially the chap whose first day it was (sorry didn't get your name) you were so patient with the three novice fisher children and they caught fish all by them selves a 5 ***** experience

First time taking the Family glamping so didn't really know what to expect. Staff were brillant from the word go and fired up our hot tub everyday we were there.
Cabins were small but comfortable and everything clean.Well stocked with the basic cutlery, plates, cups etc.
The site was clean and tidy and is situated in pretty countryside.
If you like the countryside / outdoors it's a great base to explore Northumberland and Cumbria. Numerous Hadrian's Wall sites and Carlisle within 30 mins drive and Lake District 45-60min drive.
On site for Kids - x2 small play areas.
The fishing lakes - 1 small catch and keep lake which my kids enjoyed.
There's a larger fly fishing lake which I fished in the evenings. Plenty of fish seen and had some good fun catching on small dry flies and buzzers.
Theres not too much to do on site other than the fishing but its a great place to base yourself for days out in Northumberland /Cumbria and then come back get a fire going and chill in the hot tub.

Spent 2 nights here with my son in a Wigwam on an annual fishing trip. Fishing was good. This is really an amazing place for families with small kids. Lovely atmosphere and the guys that run this place are fantastic.
Planning on making this a regular trip.

Not a person who normally writes a review but just felt this place deserved one. Just spent an afternoon at New Mills, as a family of five who have never tried fishing . My husband and myself took our 10 year old and twin 7 year old boys to try . The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, The young lad who looked after us was excellent, he was great with the kids and made sure they all had success. The setting was perfect and the boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves - they all caught at least one fish each, which we enjoyed for our tea! Would recommend to anyone with kids who want to have a go.

We had such a good time here and would definitely recommend to others. The site was beautiful and felt really safe. Everyone on site was helpful and friendly. My children were desperate to try fishing but I had never done it before so I was a bit worried about it but the staff talked us through what to do and gave plenty of help, other people around the lake helped out too and my children were thrilled when they caught some fish (which we later barbecued on the wigwam’s firepit).
The wigwam was amazing with beautiful views. We had a hot tub too which was really special. Everything had been thought of inside the wigwam, it was really well equipped and had hooks and storage in all the right places.
We did the evening Alpaca/ hens/ sheep feeding and this was so much fun for the kids (and me!). The alpacas are just so funny and I got to cuddle one 😄 The kids enjoyed the playground, paddling in the stream and the giant games too.
We didn’t want to leave and would love to go back one day.

My son wanted to go fishing so we asked at a petrol station near Haydon Bridge and they recommended New Mills. What an amazing day we had. We had never fished before so Catherine took us out to the "fun pond" , spent time with us showing us how to use the rod and bait and made sure we were ok before leaving us to it. 4 hours later we were still there as we were enjoying it so much. My son (aged 9 ) LOVED it. The trout were tricky for us ( not for the others around the pond though who were catching things ) but Catherine and the team made sure we had the best chance of catching one - changing our rod and bait, and helping us cast into the best areas. We were not going home empty handed! We eventually caught a trout which was our first ever catch - trophy photo to prove it. Important to know before you go - you have to dispatch what you catch. They give you the implement and a bag. At the end of the day they will gut your fish for 50p, weigh it and then you buy it to cook. I have to say it was delicious. Absolutely brilliant fun. Excellent staff and very friendly. We were not staying at the farm but the camping pods looked very inviting. Maybe next year.

A week at Lakeside cottage, James and Catherine were very welcoming and all the staff happy to help, The cottage its self is upside down, so both bedrooms are a good sizes are down stairs ( very steep) both have super kingsize beds very comfortable and lovely white bedding. Dressing gowns are a lovely touch. Note the only bathroom is upstairs, so maybe think about children or elderly people. The cottage is very well equipped ( everything you will need to cook ) The upstairs is very warm but the good news it's its much cooler downstairs in the bedrooms . Hot tub was a welcome addition after a day out walking .Had a go at fishing on the fun Lake on our last day and happy to say come home with some rainbow trout for our friends. So a great week was had by all. There is a few take aways about 10 mins away in town and a small co-op . About 20 mins away is a large tesco.

Just returned from 2 nights at New mills glamping.
Fantastic stay, both adults and children had the best time.
Even the rain didn't stop the fun.
Big shout out to Ben, who was always helpful and happy.
Will definitely be booking again.
So much for children to do.

Great hosts, very welcoming and helpful, couldn't do more to make us feel welcome. The pod was brilliant, small and cosy with great facilities. Had a very enjoyable evening fishing the lake. Loads of good quality trout and great fishing platforms.
Great site for travelling with attractions in every direction.
All in all, a most enjoyable couple of days and look forward to coming back in the future.

Amazing place, beautiful setting, pods very comfortable and well equipped.
Really enjoyed our two-night stay. Owners Catherine and James are very friendly and welcoming, and what can we say about the wonderful Bob, resident fishing coach and storyteller...

They do children's fishing parties and have a little hut where the kids can go afterwards for their party food.
I think it was quite popular with the kids in the local area, especially the lads!
